FOR LEGAL ADVERTISING SERVICES FOR FISCAL YEAR 2011 -2012 IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $8,000. Recommended Action: Approve SUMMARY The City currently contracts with Beacon Media, Inc. for legal advertising services. According to the City Charter, prior to the beginning of each fiscal year, the City shall solicit bids for the publication of all legal notices or other matters required to be published by the City in a newspaper of general circulation. DISCUSSION City Charter Section 420 requires the City solicit bids and enter into an agreement for the publication of all legal notices or other matters required to be published in a newspaper of general circulation in the City prior to the following fiscal year. The Purchasing Officer solicited bids from the only two adjudicated newspapers in the City, the Pasadena Star News and Beacon Media, Inc. (the Arcadia Weekly), and only one bid was received from Beacon Media, Inc. The bid was reviewed by the Purchasing Officer and the Chief Deputy City Clerk/Records Manager and recommends the City enter into an agreement with Beacon Media, Inc. for legal advertising services. Mayor and City Council June 21, 2011 Page 2 FISCAL IMPACT The fiscal impact to the General Fund is approximately $8,000 which is budgeted in the City Clerk's operating budget for fiscal year 2011 -.2012 for legal advertising services. Special projects such as capital improvement projects are paid directly from the specific project fund. RECOMMENDATION Authorize the City Manager to execute an agreement with Beacon Media, Inc. for legal advertising services for fiscal year 2011 -2012 in an amount not to exceed $8,000.
