SUBJECT: Consent to Assignment between the California Insurance Pool
Authority (CIPA) and Carl Warren & Company to provide the City of
Arcadia with Third Party Administrator Services for General and
Auto Liability Claims Administration effective July 1, 2011 to June
30, 2012
Recommendation: Approve
SUMMARY
Authorize the Consent to Assignment between the California Insurance Pool
Authority (CIPA) and Carl Warren & Company to provide the City of Arcadia with
Third Party Administrator Services for General and Auto Liability Claims
Administration.
DISCUSSION
At the May 3, 2011 City Council Meeting, the City Manager was authorized to
enter into a contract with NovaPro Risk Solutions via an existing agreement
between NovaPro Risk Solutions and the California Insurance Pool Authority
(CIPA), the City's current JPA for workers compensation and liability. Staff was
recently apprised that NovaPro Risk Solutions was acquired by Carl Warren &
Company. Representatives from Carl Warren & Company have communicated
with staff and CIPA and have indicated they will fully honor the agreement CIPA
had in place with NovaPro Risk Solutions. The agreement was amended to
include the City of Arcadia effective July 1, 2011. Therefore, staff is requesting
the City Council authorize the General Manager of CIPA to approve the Consent
to Assignment to Carl Warren & Company on behalf of the City of Arcadia.
FISCAL IMPACT
There are no changes to fiscal terms agreed to in the existing contract as a result
of this action.
