HomeMy WebLinkAbout1324 ORDINANCE NO. 1324 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, PROHIBITING THE ERECTION, ALTERATION, OR MOVING IN OF BUILDINGS OR, COMMENCEMENT OF NEW USES IN THAT PORTION OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA SITUATED EASTERLY OF PECK ROAD. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That the City Planning Department and the City Planning Commission are considering or studying or intend to study . within a reasonable time a zoning proposal with respect to that por- tion of the City of Arcadia situated easterly of Peck Road, consisting of all lots of Chicago Park Tract per map recorded in Book'30, page 100, Miscellaneous Records of Los Angeles County, which are within the City of Arcadia. That the details of such zoning proposal have not been finalized, and to protect the public safety, health and wel- fare it is necessary to prohibit the erection, alteration or moving in of buildings or structures or the commencement of new uses in any portion of the City lying easterly of Peck Road as hereinbefore specifically described. SECTION 2. No building or structure shall be erected, nor shall any existing building or structure be moved into, reconstructed, structurally altered, added to or enlarged, nor shall any permit be issued for any of the foregoing nor shall any use not heretofore in existence be commenced on or with respect to any lot or parcel of ground within that portion of the City of Arcadia lying easterly of Peck Road, and specifically any lot of Chicago Park Tract per map recorded in Book 30, page 100, Miscellaneous Records of Los Angeles County and Lots 1 and 2 of Tract No. 10369, per map recorded in Book 149, pages 95 and 96, of Maps, Records of Los Angeles County. -1- 1324 SECTION 3. This Ordinance is adopted pursuant to Section 65858 of the California Government Code and is hereby declared by the City Council to be necessary as an emergency measure for preserving the public peace, safety, health and welfare, and shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. The statement of the reasons for its urgency is as follows: The City Planning Department and City Plan- ning Commission are considering or studying or intend to study within a reasonable time a zoning proposal affecting the property hereinbe- fore described. That building permits have already been applied for with respect to some of the properties within said area. That the puro pose of the studies and the zoning proposal will be jeopardized and thwarted if prior to the completion and adoption thereof buildings and useS are erected or commenced contrary to such proposal as finally adopted. It is therefore necessary that this ordinance take effect immediately upon its adoption. SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this ordinance and shall cause it to be published once in the official newspaper.
