ORDINANCE NO. 1281
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA,
APPROVING THE ANNEXATION TO SAID CITY
OF THAT CERTAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY
CONTIGUOUS TO SAID CITY DESCRIBED IN
RESOLUTION NO. 3759 ADOPTED BY SAID
CITY COUNCIL ON JANUARY 19, 1965, AND
DESIGNATED THEREIN AS "ANNEXATION NO.
34, NORTHWEST ARCADIA UNINHABITED".
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES
HEREBY DETERMINE AND ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. That the City Council of the City of Arcadia did
on its own motion on January 19, 1965, adopt Resolution No. 3759 en-
titled "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA,
CALIFORNIA, GIVING NOTICE OF THE PROPOSED ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN CON-
TIGUOUS TERRITORY DESIGNATED AS "ANNEXATION NO. 34 NORTHWEST ARCADIA
UNINHABITED", which resolution recited that the proceedings for the
annexation of the territory hereinafter described were initiated on
the said Council's own motion, and stated the reasons for which the
said Council desires to annex said territory, and which resolution
further specifically described the boundaries of the territory sought
to be included in said City, and fixed Tuesday, March 2, 1965, at the
hour of 8:00 o'clock P.M. in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of
said City, as the day, hour and place when and where the City Council
would hear protests made by any person owning real property in such
territory proposed to be annexed.
SECTION 2. That at a regular meeting of said City Council
held on the 2nd day of March, 1965, at the hour of 8:00 o'clock P.M.
in the Council Chamber of said City Council in the Arcadia City Hall,
240 West Huntington Drive, Arcadia, said City Council did find and

determine that the publication of Resolution No. 3759 had been made
at the time and in the manner required by Section 35311 of the Govern-
ment Code of the State of California. That the annexation of said
territory is not prohibited either by Section 35002.5 or by Section
35326 of the said Government Code'; That the territory proposed to be
annexed as described by said Resolution No. 3759 was and is uninhabited
and is contiguous to the City of Arcadia. That said territory was
heretofore a part of the City of Sierra Madre, a Municipal Corporation.
That the legislative bodies of the Cities of Sierra Madre and Arcadia
have received the written consent of at least two-thirds of the free-
holders within the territory, holding at least two-thirds in value of
the real property within the territory, and the legislative body of
the City of Sierra Madre has by resolution consented to the detachment
of said territory from the City of Sierra Madre and the annexation
thereof to the City of Arcadia. That written protest was not made
either by private owners of one-half of the value of the privately
owned territory proposed to be annexed or by publiC owners of one-half
of the publicly owned territory proposed to be annexed.
SECTION 3. That under and pursuant to and in accordance
with the provisions of an act of the legislature of the State of
California entitled "Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939",
the annexation to the City of Arcadia of that certain uninhabited terri-
tory contiguous to said City as described in Resolution No. 3759,
adopted by said City Council of said City on January 19, 1965, and
therein designated as "Annexation No. 34, Northwest Arcadia Uninhabited",
be and the same is ,hereby ratified, confirmed and approved. That a
specific description of the boundaries of said territory, as submitted
to and favorably reported upon by the Boundary Commission of Los Angeles
County pursuant to Section 35002 of the California Government Code, is
as follows:

Beginning at a corner in the boundary of the City of Arcadia,
said corner being the intersection of the easterly line of
Michillinda Avenue 60 feet wide, shown as Sierra Madre Avenue
on map of Tract 948, recorded in Book 17, Page 21 of Maps in
the office of the Recorder of Los Angeles County, and the
southerly line of Orange Grove Avenue 50'feet wide, shown as
Live Oak Avenue on map of said Tract 948; thence easterly
along said southerly line and City boundary through its various
courses and distances to a corner in said City boundary formed
by the intersection of the southerly line of said Avenue and
the southerly prolongation of the westerly line of Tract No.
8765 as shown on map recorded in Book 127, Pages 56 and 57
of Maps in the office of said Recorder; thence northerly along
said prolongation and boundary 25 feet more or less to the
center-line of said Orange Grove Avenue; thence westerly along
said center-line through its various courses and distances to
the easterly line of previously mentioned Michillinda Avenue;
thence southerly 25 feet more or less along said easterly line
to the point of beginning.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Ordinance and within fifteen (15) days after the date of adoption
hereof shall cause a copy hereof to be published once in the Arcadia
Tribune, and the City Clerk shall upon the taking effect of this Or-
dinance, make and certify under the seal of the City of Arcadia and
transmit to the Secretary of State of the State of California a copy
of this Ordinance giving the date of its passage.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was adopted at
a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia held on
the 16th day of MARCH 1965
