ORDINANCE NO. 1205
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA,
AMENDING THE ARCADIA MUNICIPAL CODE
BY AMENDING SECTION 3122 THEREOF,
BY ADDING TO PART 2 OF CHAPTER 1 OF
ARTICLE III THEREOF A NEW SECTION
3l21.~ AND BY ADDING TO PART 3 OF
CHAPTER 1 OF ARTICLE VIII THEREOF A
NEW SECTION 8130.19 ADDING A NEW
SECTION 1605 TO CHAPTER 16 OF THE
UNIFORM BUILDING CODE.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That Section 3122 of the Arcadia Municipal Code
is hereby amended to read as follows:
3122. FIRE DISTRICT MAP. That certain map, one copy of
which is on file in the office of the Director of Publ1cWorks,
commonly referred to as the Zoning Map of the City, is hereby desig-
nated as the Fire District Map of the City, and the Fire Districts
created hereb~ consisting of Fire Zone No.1, Fire Zone No.2, Fire
Zone No.3 and Fire Zone No. 4,shal1 be designated thereon by
appropriate symbols or designations.
SECTION 2. That the Arcadia Municipal Code is hereby
amended by adding to Part 2 of Chapter 1 of Article III thereof a
new Section 3121.4 to read as follows:
3121.4. FIRE ZONE No.4. Fire Zone No. 4 shall include
all real property in the City not otherwise included in either Fire
Zone No.1, Fire Zone No. 2 or Fire Zone No.3, such real property
being within the boundaries as established and set forth on the FIRE
DISTRICT MAP.
SECTION 3. That the Arcadia Muni~ Code is hereby
amended by adding to Part 3 of Chapter 1 of Article VIII thereof a
new Section 8130.19 to read as follows:

8130.19. ADDITION. Chapter 16 of Part 4 of said Uni-
form Building Code is hereby amended by adding thereto a new Sec-
tion 1605, the same to read as follows:
Sec. 1605. GENERAL -- FIRE ZONE NO.4. Buildings or
structures hereafter erected, constructed, moved within or into
Fire Zone No.4 shall, in addition to complying with the require-
ments of this Code for any building or structure in Fire Zone No.
3, comply with the fOllowing requirements of this Section:
1. Roof soffits (including eaves) in excess of twelve
(12) inches in width, open patios, carports, porches, unenclosed
under-floor areas, and all open structures, attached or detached,
shall be protected on the under side with materials as approved
for one-hour fire-resistive construction or shall be of incombustible
material throughout.
EXCEPTION: Eaves facing on a dedicated street need not
be protected.
2. Chimneys shall be equipped with approved spark
arresters.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this ordinance.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing ordinance was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia held
on the 21st day of May
, 1963, by the affirmative vote of at
least three Councilmen, to wit:
