ORDINANCE NO. 1157
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA,
VACATING AND ABANDONING A PORTION OF
THE FIRST ALLEY SOUTH OF DUARTE ROAD
EASTERLY FROM SECOND AVENUE IN SAID
CITY.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA,
DOES HEREBY DETERMINE AND ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That Resolution No. 3427 entitled "A RESO-
LUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA,
DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO VACATE AND ABANDON A PORTION OF THE
FIRST ALLEY SOUTH OF DUARTE ROAD EASTERLY FROM SECOND AVENUE AND
FIXING'A TIME AND PLACE FOR THE HEARING OF OBJECTIONS TO SUCH
PROPOSED VACATION AND ABANDONMENT," was duly and regularly adopted
by the City Council of the City of Arcadia on November 7, 1961;
that said Resolution, among other things fixed the hour of 8:00
o'clock p.m., on the 5th day of December, 1961, in the Council
Chamber of the Arcadia City Hall, 240 West Huntington Drive, Ar-
cadia, ,California, as the time and place for hearing all persons
interested in or objecting to the 'proposed vacation as therein out-
lined; that a copy thereof was duly and regularly published in the
Arcadia Tribune, a new~paper of general circulation published and
circulated in said City, as required by the Streets and Highways
Code of the State of California, and that the property hereinafter
described and proposed to be vacated was duly and regularly posted
as required by the Streets and Highways Code of the State of Cali-
fornia; that the affidavits of said publication and of said posting
were duly filed with and are now on file with the City Clerk of the
City of Arcadia; that on the 5th day of December, 1961, at the hour
of 8:00 o'clock p.m., in the Council Chamber of the Arcadia City

Hall, 240 West Huntington Drive, Arcadia, California, the City
Council of the City of Arcadia did accept and receive all testimony
offered in support of or in objection to the said proposed'vaca-
tion; that thereupon the said City Council found from evidence sub-
mitted that the property hereinbefore used for alley purposes, and
hereinafter particularly described is unnecessary for present or
prospective alley purposes, and that the public welfare, convenience,
necessity and safety require and will be better served by the vaca-
tion thereof as a public alley in said City.
SECTION 2. That the City of Arcadia does therefore here-
by order the vacation and abandonment of that property, heretofore
a part of the first alley south of Duarte Road, easterly from Sec-
ond Avenue, in the City of Arcadia, County of Los Angeles, 'State of
California, specifically described as follows:
A portion of the first alley south of Duarte
Road, between Second Avenue and Fourth Avenue,
as conveyed by deed recorded in Book 48336,
page 179, of Official Records of said County,
described as follows:
Beginning at a point in the easterly line of
Lot 33, Tract No. 808, as shown on map recorded
in Book 16, pages 82 and 83, of Maps, records of
said County, distant thereon North 0021'00" West
80.00 feet from the southeast corner-thereof;
thence South 89038'20" West along the southerly
line of said alley 95.96 feet; thence North
66051'13" East 51.65 feet to the northerly line
of--said alley; thence North 89038'00" East
thereon 48.35 feet to the said easterly line
of Lot 33; thence South 0021'00" East thereon
20 feet to the point of beginning.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this ordinance and upon the same taking effect shall cause a
certified copy hereof to be recorded in the office of the County
Recorder of Los Angeles County.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing ordinance was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia
