HomeMy WebLinkAbout1053 ORDINANCE NO. 1053 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE ANNEXATION TO THE CITY OF ARCADIA OF CERTAIN INHABITED TERRITORY CONTIGUOUS TO THE CITY OF ARCADIA AND DESIGNATED AS "ANNEXATION NO. 17-A, SOUTffilEST ARCADIA INHABITED." WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of the Annexation Act of 1913, and pursuant to Ordinance No. 1045 adopted by the City Council of the City of Arcadia on February 3, 1959, a special elec- tion was held on the 24th day of March, 1959, in that certain in- habited territory contiguous to the City of Arcadia and designated as "Annexation No. 17-A, Southwest Arcadia Inhabited", which terri- tory is hereinaf1;er more partioularly described; and, WHEREAS, at said special election the following question was submitted to the qualified electors residing in said territory: MEASURE SUBMITTED TO VOTE OF VOTERS : : . : . Shall Annexation No. 17-A, : YES . . Southwest Arcadia Inhab- : : : ited, be annexed to the : : City of Arcadia? NO : : : and, WHEREAS, it appears from the canvass of the votes cast at said special election that a majority of all votes cast in said territory on the question of said annexation favor annexation of said territory to the City of Arcadia; and, WHEREAS, it appears that said special election and all proceedings relating thereto have been conducted strictly in accord- ance with law; -l- 1053 NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. That the annexation of that certain inhabited territory contiguous to the City of Arcadia, designated as "Annexa- tion No. 17-A, Southwest Arcadia Inhabited" be and the same is hereby approved. Said territory is described as follows: -2- 1053 "ANNEXA'l'ION NO. 17-A, SOtlTHWEST ARCADIA INHABITED" TO THE CITY OF ARCADIA (Revised) Beginning at a point in the boundary ot the City ot Ar- cadia, as same existed on March 1, 1957, said point lying in the northerly l1ne ot Lot 2, Block C, Santa Anita Land Company's Tract, as per map recorded in Book 6, page 137, ot Maps in the offioe of the Recorder ot Los Angeles County, 247.14 feet easterly of the northwest corner ot said Lot 2; thence southerly 327.11 teet along a line parallel with the easterly line of said Lot 2 to the south- erly line thereot; thence easterly along the southerly lines of Lots 2 and 1 of said Block C to the southeast corner ot said Lot 1; ( thence easte~ly in a direct line to a point in the westerly line of Lot 2, Block B of said Santa Anita Land Company's Tract, said point lying 10.23 teet northerly trom the southwest corner of said last mentioned Lot 2; thence easterly parallel with the northerly line of said last mentioned Lot 2 a distance of 300 feet; thence southerly parallel with the westerly line of said last mentioned Lot 2 to the southerly line thereot; thence easterly along the southerly lines of Lots 2 and 1 ot said Block B to the southeast corner of Lot 1 of said BloCk B; thence easterly in a direct line to the southwest corner of Lot 2 of Block A of said Santa Anita Land Company's Tract; thence 378 feet easterly along the southerly line of Lot 2 of said Block A to a point; thence southerly along a line, said line being parallel with the easterly line of Lot 3 of said Block A, to a point in the southerly line of said Lot 3; thence easte~ly along said last mentioned southerly line a dis- tance of 3 feet; thence southerly parallel with the easterly line of Lot 6 of said Block A to a point in the northerly line ot Lot 7 ot said, Block A; thence westerly along last mentioned northerly line a distance of 15 teet; thence southerly along a line parallel with the easterly line ot said Lot 7 to the southerly l1ne of said last mentioned lot; thence southerly in a direct line tft the northwest corner ot Tract 19413 as per map recorded in Book 492, pages 4 and 5, of Maps in the ottice of said Recorder; thence southerly and easterly along the westerly and southerly boundary lines of said last mentioned tract to a point in the southerly line ot Lot 1 ot said last mentioned tract, said point being the point of intersection of said last mentioned southerly line with the westerly l1ne ot Cambury Avenue, 25 feet wide as shown on map ot Tract 15797 recorded in Book 382, pages 38 and 39 ot Maps in the otfice of said Recorder; thence southerly in a direct line to the southeasterly corner of Lot 12 of said last mentioned tract, being a point in the northerly line ot Lot 6 ot Block 0 of the preViously mentioned Santa Anita Land CompanY's'Tract; thence easterly along the northerly line ot said last mentioned Lot 6 to the northeast corner thereof; thence southerly along the westerly lines and along the southerly prolongation ot the westerly lines of Lots 5 and 8 ot said Block G and continuing southerly along the westerly lines of Lots 1 and 4 of Block H of said last men- tioned tract to a point 50 teet southerly of the northwest corner of Lot 4 of said Block H, said point being the northwest corner of Tract 15881 as per map recorded in Book 347, pages 1 and 2, of Maps in the ott1ce ot said Recorder; thence southerly along the westerly line of said Tract 15881 to the southwest corner thereof. said last mentioned southwest corner being the northwest corner of Lot 7. Tract 16712, as per map recorded in Book 384, page 40, of Maps in the office of said Recorder; thence southerly along the westerly line ot said Lot 7 to the southwest corner thereot; thence southerly in a direct line to the northeast corner ot Lot -3- 1053 . . , . 20 ot said Tract 16712; thence southerly along the easterly line 01' said Lot 20 to the southeast corner thereof, said last mentioned southeast corner being the northwest corner 01' Lot 8, Block H 01' the previously mentioned Santa Anita Land Company's Tract; thence southerly along the westerly line 01' Lot 8 of said Block H and along its southerly prolongation to the southwest corner 01' Lot 1, Block 0 of said last mentioned tract, said last mentioned southwest corner being the northwest corner of Tract 18002, as per map re- corded in Book 441, pages 38 and 39, 01' Maps in the ottice of said Recorder; thence in a generally easterly, southerly and westerly direction along the various courses and distances of' the boundary of said Tract 18002 to the northeast corner of Lot 11 of said Tract 18002; thence southerly in a direct line to the southeast corner of Said last mentioned lot; thence westerly along the southerly line of said last mentioned lot to a line that is parallel with and distant 280 feet westerly, measured at right angles, trom the westerly line of Baldwin Avenue 55 teet wide as shown on said last mentioned map; thence southerly along said line parallel with and distant westerly 280 feet from the westerly line 01' said Baldwin A'lenue to the north- erly line of Garibaldi Avenue 60 feet wide as shown on said last mentioned map; thence easterly along said northerly line 90 feet more or less to a point of intersection with the northerly pro- longation 01' the westerly line of Lot 1, Tract 6561, as per map recorded in Bool! 72, pages 34 and 35, of Maps, in the office 01' Said Recorder; thence southerly along said prolongation to the northwest corner of said Lot 1; thence souther1~ along the westerly line of Lots 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 01' said Tract 6561 to the south- west corner of said Lot 6; thence southerl~ in a direct line to the northwest corner of Lot 7 of said Tract 6561; thence southerly along the westerly line of Lots 7, 8, 9 and 10 to the southwest corner of Lot 10 01' said last mentioned tract; thence westerly along the northerly line of Lot 14 ot said Tract 6561 to the north- west corner thereof; thence southerly along the westerly line of said Lot 14, and along its southerly prolongation to a point in the southerly line 01' Las Tunas Drive, as described in Final Judgment in Case No. 269,622 of the Superior Court of the State 01' California 1n and for the Countl 01' Los Angeles, a certified copy 01' which is recorded in Book l22~, page 277 01' Official Records, in the otfice of said Recorder; thence westerly along said southerly line to the easterly line of Rowland A'lenue, 60 feet wide as described in deed to County of Los Angeles, recorded in Book 14455, page 344 of Ofticial Records, in the office 01' said recorder; thence southerly along last mentioned easterly line to the northwest corner 01' Lot 392 01' said Tract 6561; thence easterly along the northerly line 01' said last mentioned lot to the northeast corner thereot; thence southerly along the easterly line of Lots 392, 393 and 394 to the southeast corner 01' Lot 394 of said Tract 6561; thence southerly 1n a direct line to the northeast corner 01' Lot 395 of' said Tract 6561; thence southerly along the easterly line 01' Lots 395, 396, 397, 398~ 399 and 400, to the southeast corner ot Lot 400 of' said Tract 6501, said COrner lying in the northerly line of' Live Oak Avenue (tormerly Azusa Road, 60 teet wide) as shown on map 01' said last mentioned tract; thence easterly along the last mentioned northerly line to the westerly line of Baldwin Avenue, 55 teet wide, as shown on said last mentioned map, said westerly line be- ing the westerly boundary line of' said City of Arcadia; thence generally in a northerly and westerly direction along the 'larlous courses and distances of the westerly and southerly boundaries of said City of' Arcadia to the point of beginning. -4- I053 SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published once in the Arcadia Tribune and Arcadia News, a weekly newspaper of gen- eral circulation, published and circulated in the City of Arcadia. The City Clerk shall thereupon, on the taking effect of this ordi- nance, make and certify under the seal of the City of Arcadia and transmit to the .secretary of State of the State of California a copy of the record of the canvass in the territory, a statement showing the date of the election, the time and the result of the canvass, and a certified copy of the within ordinance giving the date of its passage and a description of the territory.
