HomeMy WebLinkAbout1069 ORDINANCE NO. 1069 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, PROHIBITING THE REMOVAL OF IDENTIFICATION DEVICES FROM BICYCLES REGISTERED WITH THE CITY OF ARCADIA, AND REPEALING ORDINANCES NOS. 479, 514, 839 AND 974 AND ANY OTHER ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH. THE CI'rY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Any bicycle owned by a person residing in the City of Arcadia may be registered with the Arcadia Police Depart- ment upon the filling out by the owner thereof of an application form giving the owner's name and address, the name and serial num- be;~f the bicycle, and such other information as the Arcadia Po- lice Department may require. Upon the receipt of such completed application, the Arcadia Police Department shall issue a decal or other means of identification bearing the registration number is- sued by said Police Department for the bicycle described in such application. Such registration shall be for an indefinite period, and shall not be transferable to any new owner of the bicycle thereby identified. SECTION 2. No person shall Willfully or maliciously re- move, destroy, mutilate or alter the serial number stamped upon or affixed to any bicycle frame by the manufacturer thereof. No per- son shall, without the consent of the owner of the bicycle identi- f1ed thereby, alter or remove any identification device issued by the Arcadia Police Department and affixed to the bicycle identi- fied thereby. SECTION 3. Any person violating any of the provisions of Section 2 hereinabove shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon -1- 1069 conviction thereof shall be punishable by a fine of not more than Five Hundred and nO/lOa Dollars ($500.00) or by imprisonment in the city jailor in the county jail for a term not exceeding six (6) months, or by both such fine and imprisonment. SECTION 4. Ordinances Nos. 479, 514, 839 and 974 of the City of Arcadia and any other ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTIcm 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this ordinance and prior to the expiration of fifteen (15) days from the passage hereof shall cause the same to be published once in the Arcadia Tribune and Arcadia News, a newspaper of general circulation, published and circulated in the City of Arcadia.
