ORDINANCE NO. 1080
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA,
RECLASSIFYING TO ZONE C-2 AND ZONE
R-3 OF ALL THAT PROPERTY IN THE
NORTHERN PORTION OF ANNEXATION NO.
17-A, SOUTHWEST ARCADIA INHABITED,
FRONTING ON DUARTE ROAD.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That after proceedings duly instituted and pUb-
lic hearings duly held by and before the City Planning Commission
and the City Council, after due notice as required by law, this Coun-
cil hereby determines most of that property in the northern portion
of Annexation No. 17-A, Southwest Arcadia Inhabited, fronting on
Duarte Road, presently zoned R-l by reason of its annexation to said
City, is composed of large deep lots fronting on a busy thoroughfare
with too much area to now be suitable for R-l uses; that, with the
exception of two small but long established commercial areas, all
of said property should be reclassified for multiple zoning to cor-
respond to the property across the street already developed with
apartment dwellings; that for the foregoing reasons the property
hereinafter described should be reclassified to the respective zones
as set forth in the following sections:
SECTION 2. That the folloWing described property in the
City of Arcadia, County of Los Angeles, State of California, should
be and the same i8 hereby reclassified and established as property
in Zone R-3:
All of Lot 2, Block A, Santa Anita Land Company's
Tract, as shown on map recorded in Book 6, page
137, of Maps, records of said County, excepting
therefrom that portion beginning at the north-
westerly corner thereof; thence southerly along

the westerly line of said lot 78 feet; thence
easterly parallel with the north line of said
lot 63.43 feet; thence southerly parallel with
the westerly line of said lot 22 feet; thence
easterly parallel with the northerly line of said
lot 62 feet; thence northerly parallel with the
westerly line of said lot 100 feet to the north-
erly line of said lot; thence westerly thereon
125.43 feet to the point of beginning;
All of Lot 1, excepting therefrom the northerly
125 feet of the easterly 240.01 feet thereof;
and all of Lot 2, excepting therefrom the southerly
10.23 feet of the westerly 300 feet thereof; Block
B, said Santa Anita Land Company's Tract;
All of Lot 1 and the easterly 203.685 feet of Lot
2, Block C, said Santa Anita Land Company's Tract.
SECTION 3. That the following described property in the
City of Arcadia, County of Los Angeles, State of California, should
be and the same j.s hereby reclassified and established as property
in Zone C-2:
That portion of Lot 2, Block A, Santa Anita Land
Company's Tract, as shown on map recorded in Book
6, page 137, of Maps, records of said County, de-
scribec as follows:
Beginn1.ng at the northwesterly corner of said Lot
2, the~ce southerly along the westerly line of
said lot 78 feet; thence easterly parallel with the
nOrth line of said lot 63.43 feet; thence southerly
parallel with the westerly line of said lot 22 feet;
thence easterly parallel with the northerly line of
said lot 62 feet; thence northerly parallel with
the westerly line of said lot 100 feet to the north-
erly line of said lot; thence westerly thereon
125.43 feet to the point of beginning; and
The northerly 125 feet of the easterly 240.01 feet
of Lot 1, Block B, Santa Anita Land Company's
Tract.
SECTION 4. That Ordinance No. 760 of the City of Arcadia
and the map therein contained is hereby amended to reclassify and
designate the above described properties in Zones R-3 and C-2 as
hereinabove respectively set forth.
SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this ordinance and prior to the expiration of fifteen (15) days

from the passage thereof, shall cause the same to be published
once in the Arcadia Tribune and Arcadia News, a newspaper of gen-
eral circulation published and circulated in the City of Arcadia.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing ordinance was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia,
held on the 17thday of
May
, 1960, by the affirmative vote
of at least three Councilmen, to wit:
