/Yti 14- b AN ORDIl~ANCE OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF AR-
CADIA DECL~~ING THAT THE EASTERLY SIDE OR IMPROVED PORTION OF SANT
ANITA AVENUS IN SAID CITY OF ARCADIA LYING NORTHERLY OF WHITE OAK
AVENUE, ALSO COliMONLY KNOWN AS FOOTHILL BOULEVARD, TO BE AN OPEN,
PUBLIC BOULEVARD AND PROHIBITING HEAVY TRAFFIC THEREON.

AS FOLLOWS:
S;1;CTION 1: That the Easterly side or improved portion of
Santa Anita Avenue in said City of Aroadia, lying Northerly of
Whi te Oak A',enue, also commonly kn017Il as Foothill Boulevard, be an
the same is hereby declared to be and is hereby dedicated as an
open Publio Boulevard, along and. upon whioh it shall be unlawful
for any perl30n, firm or oorporation to drive, or cause to be drive,
any truok, lVagon, oil wagon, tank wagon, oart or other vehicle em-
ployed in olLrrying rock, sand, earth, grl;l.vel, oil, coal, wood,
manure, lumber, brick or other building materials, provided howeve ,
that this O~dinanoe shall not apply to the use of said Boulevard
between saiei points for a distance less than one blook, by vehicle
oarrying such rock, sand, earth, gravel, oil, ooal, wood, manure,
lumber, bric:k or other building materials, to or from the premises
fronting on said portion of Santa Anita Avenue from or to the nea
est intersec:ting Street or Avenue between said points.
. S:WTION 2: That any person, firm or corporation violat-
ing any of .the provisions of this Ordinance shall be deemed gull t
of a misdemeanor and upon oonviotion thereof, shall be punished
by a fine not exceeding 0300.00 or by imprisonment in the City Ja 1
of said City of Arcadia for a periOd not exceeding three months
or~oth such fine and imprisonment.
SECTION 3: ~nie Ordinance is required as an emergency
measure for the immediate preservation of said portion of Santa
Ani ta Avenue, as same has been improved with materials which are
not of sufficient durability to withstand heavy traffio, and over
which oonsicierable heavy traff1c is now travelling and which
traffic will cause irreparable damage to said Street if allowed

to' continue and therefore the passage of this Ordinance to prohibit
such traffic thereon is immediately required.
SECTION 4: The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be publiehed once in
The Arcadia Journal, a weekly newspaper published and circulated
in said City of Arcadia and thereupon and thereafter the same shall
take effect and be in forQe.
The foregoing Ordinance was adopted at a regular meeting
of the Board of Trustees of the City of Arcadia, held on the 5th.
day of November, 1924, by the affirmative vote of at least four
Trustees, to-.wit:
