ORDINANCE NO. 1799
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA AMENDING SECTION 9233.13
OF THE ARCADIA MUNICIPAL CODE TO REZONE THE PROPERTY LOCATED
AT 182 AND 183 WEST LA SIERRA DRIVE FROM R-D 12,500 (FIRST
ONE-FAMILY ZONE) TO R-1 10,000 (SECOND ONE-FAMILY ZONE).
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Arcadia held a public hearing on
September 4, 1984 on the rezoning of 100 through 182 and 105 through 183 West La
Sierra Drive from R-O 12,500 to R-l 10,000,
WHEREAS, all interested persons were given full opportunity to be heard and
to present evidence,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA does ordain as
foll ows: ~
Section 1. That Section 9233.13 of the Arcadia Municipal Code is hereby
amended by amending the zoning map contained therein so that the following
legally described properties presently classified as R-O 12,500 (first one-family
zone) shall hereafter be classified as R-1 10,000 (second one-family zone):
182 and 183 West La Sierra Drive, City of Arcadia. Lots 1 and 26 of
Tract No. 13448, in the City of Arcadia, County of Los Angeles, State
of California, as per Map recorded in Book 269, Page 14 of Maps, in
the Office of said County Recorder.
Section 2. We find and determine that all written documentation presented
by the Planning Department to the City Council for the hearing on this zone
change is true and correct; that this zone change is consistent with the General
Plan; that this zone change would allow for a more hannonious, flexible and
desirable development of the area; that the public convenience, necessity,
general welfare and good zoning practice justify the proposed zone change; that
the new zoning is the highest and best use of property consistent with present
zoning classifications; and that said zone change will not have a significant
effect on the environment.
Section 3. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase or portion
of this ordinace is, for any reason, held to be invalid or unconstitutional by
the decision of any court of competent jurisdiction, such decision shall not

affect the validity of the remalnlng portions of this ordinance. The City
Council of the City of Arcadia hereby declares that it would have adopted this
ordinance and each section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase or portion
thereof irrespective of the fact that anyone or more sections, subsections,
sentences, clauses, phrases or portions be declared invalid or unconstitutional.
Section 4. The Clerk of the Council shall certify to the passage and
adoption of this ordinance and shall cause a copy of the same to be published in
the official newspaper of the City of Arcadia within fifteen (15) days after its
adopt i on.
Passed, approved and adopted this 16th day of October, 1984.

ORDINANCE NO. 1797
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA,
CALIFORNIA; AMENDING SECTION 9314 OF THE ARCADIA MUNICIPAL
CODE TO EXEMPT WALLS AND FENCES FROM THE SPECIAL SETBACK
REGULATIONS.
WHEREAS, a Text Amendment was initiated by the City for the consideration of
amending Section 9314 of the Arcadia Municipal Code to exempt walls and fences
frOO1 the speci al setback regul ati ons, and
WHEREAS, a Public Hearing was held on June 12, 1984 before the Planning
Commission at which time all interested persons were given full opportunity to be
heard, and to present evidence, and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Arcadia recOO1mended subject
amendment to the City Council, and
WHEREAS, the City Council conducted a Public Hearing concerning this
proposal on July 17, 1984 and approved the amendment.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, DOES HEREBY ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That Section 9314 be amended to read as follows:
"9314. CONSTRUCTION PROHIBITED. After an ordinance fixing and establishing
setback li nes on any street, avenue or other highway becomes effective, no person
shall erect, construct or place any building, billboard, signboard, or other
structure within the space between the street lines and the setback lines so
established. "
SECTION 2. That Section 9314.3 be added to read as follows:
"9314.3. WALLS AND FENCES. Fences, walls, or guard railings for safety
protection around depressed ramps, if not more than four (4) feet in height, may
be located within the space between the street lines and the setback lines so
established, except within twenty-five (25) feet of an intersection where the
height shall not exceed three (3) feet, and provided that it does not interfere
with the visibility or vehicular ingress and egress to the property and adjOining
properties as per the standards on file with the Planni ng Department."
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Ordinance
and shall cause a copy of the same to be published in the offici al newspaper of
said City within fifteen (15 days after its adoption.
