AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA
ADDING A NEW PART 9 TO CHAPTER 2
ARTICLE II OF THE ARCADIA MUNICIPAL
CODE CREATING THE ARCADIA HISTORICAL
COMMISSION AND SETTING FORTH ITS,
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES HEREBY
URDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That there is hereby added to Chapter ,2
of Article II of the Arcadia Municipal Code a new Part 9
to read as follows:
"ARTICLE II.
CHAPTER 2.
PART 9.
DIVISION 1.
ADMINISTRATION
DEPARTMENTS, BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS
ARCADIA HISTORICAL COMMISSION
CREATION, MEMBERSHIP AND MEETINGS
Section 2291.1. CREATION
Pursuant to Article VIII of the Arcadia City Charter,
there is hereby created and established an Arcadia Historical
Commission.
Section 2291.2. MEMBERSHIP
The Arcadia Historical Commission shall consist of
five (5) members.
Section 2291.3. MEETINGS
The Arcadia Historical Commission shall meet at least
once every three (3) months upon a day, at a time and in a
place designated from time to time by resolution adopted
by the Council, and at such other times as such Commission
may deem necessary or advisable.

DIVISION 2. DUTIES
Section 2292.1. DUTIES
Subject to review and approval by the City Council,
the Arcadia Historical Commission shall have the duties and

responsibilities set forth in ,the following. subsections and
as the same may be. furthe,r .'imp1emented or augmented from
time to time by resolution of the Council.
Section 2292.1.1. SAME
To act in an advisory capacity to the City Council
on matters of' historical interest to the City of Arcadia.
Section 2292.1.2. SAME
To keep itself, the City Council and the Arcadia
community advised and informed on matters of historical
interest, and to recommend to the City Council such action
as may be consistent with the best interests of the C1ty.
Section 2292.1.3. SAME
To assist and encourage those possessing items of
memorabilia to recognize their historical significance
and to recommend to the City Council acceptance of offered
donations of such memorabilia in the name of the City of
Arcadia including appropriate locations for storage and/or
display and methods and funding of costs for their preserva-
tion, storage and/or display."
SECTION 2 If any section, subsection, sentence, clause,
phrase or portion of this ordinance is, for any reason, held to be
invalid or unconstitutional by the decision of any court of compe-
tent jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the validity of
the remaining portions of this ordinance. The City Council of the
City of Arcadia hereby declares that it would have adopted this
ordinance and each section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase or
portion thereof irrespective of the fact that anyone or more
sections, subsections, sentences, clauses, phrases or portions be
declared invalid or unconstitutional.
SECTION 3. Neither the adoption of this ordinance nor
the repeal hereby of any ordinance shall in any manner affect the
prosecution for violation of ordinances, which violations were
committed prior to the effective date hereof, nor be construed as
affecting any of the provisions of such ordinance relating to the
collection of any such license or penalty or the penal provisions
applicable to any violation thereof, nor to affect the validity of
any bond or cash deposit in lieu thereof, required to be posted,
filed or deposited pursuant to any ordinance and all rights and
obligations thereunder appertaining shall continue in full force
and effect.

passage and adoption of this ordinance and shall cause the same to
be published in the official newspaper of the City of Arcadia with-
in fifteen (15) days after its adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Arcadia
at its regular meeting held on the 6th day of April, 1982.
SIGNED AND APPROVED this 6th day of April, 1982.
