THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: . SECTION 1: That it shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to erect, construct, alter or cause or permit to be erected, constructed or altered within the Residence Zone hereby created~ any building, structure or premises whioh shall be used for or designed or '~ntended to be used, for any other purpose than a residence, wfth its usual accessories. The term "usual accessories" shall not include any building, structure, or use not located on the same lot or~ce1 of land with the building, 'structure or use to which it is accessory and shall not include any private garage containing space for more than four automobiles. SECTION a: That the Residence Zone hereby created shall comprise all that portion of said City of Arcadia bounded and more particularly described as follows: All property fronting on the Westerly side of Santa Ani ta Avenue from Azusa Road to Grand View Avenue and. distant 150 feet Westerly from and parallel to the Westerly line of said Santa Anita Avenue and all property fronting on the Easterly side of said Santa Anita Avenue from Azusa Road to Grand. View Avenue and distant 150 feet Easterly from and ;,paralle1 to the Easterly line of said Santa Anita Avenue, excepting therefrom Lot 34, Block 73, Part of Arcadia, in the City of Arcadia, County of Los Angeles, State of California, as per Map recorded in Book 15, Pages 89 and 90, Miscellaneous Records of said County, and also excepting ther from Lots 6, 7 and 8, Tract No. 4129, in said City of Arcadia, as per Map recorded in Book 75, Pages 48 and 49 of Maps, Records of said County and also excepting all property fronting on either side of said Santa Anita Avenue from the Southerly line of Genoa Street to a line drawn across said Santa Anita Avenue two hundred feet Southerly from and parallel to the Southerly line of Duarte Road. -oJ -1- (}'/!cLna~ ;1'", / ~ 5G 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 . 13 . z ! 03: 9 ~ w -< - z 14 "..J ~ g a:::... Each such person, firm or corporation 'shall be deemed guilty of a separate offense for every day during any portion of which the viblation of any provision of this Ordinance is committed continued or permitted by suchperson, firm or corporation and shall be punished therefor as provided by this Ordinance. SEOTION 4: This Ordinance is urgently required for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety and for the specific reason that this Ordinance is in contemplation of and in conformity with a General Zoning Ordinance covering the entire City of Arcadia and which will create residence, business, industrial and other zones covering the territory within said City in a comprehensive manner;, that the District described in this O~ dinance is provided for in advance of the General Ordinance for the reason that it is a portion of the District which is to be of the residential class under such General Ordinance; that the best in- terests and general welfare of the community will be served and the General Oity Plan preserved by the maintenance of this Dis- trict in this condition; that said Board of Trustees is informed and believes that certain persons who are cognizant of the fact that this Ordinance is contemplated, are deliberately planning to construct a building or buildings within the District herein de- scribed, which will not be irybonformity with the requirements of this Ordinance and that such person or persons are contemplating the commencement ahd construction of such building or buildings with the intention of frustrating the design and plan of this Ordinance and of the General Oity Plan and will be successful -2- o~ ~",/~~ 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 0 13 z ! o ~ g:! SECTION 5: The Oity Olerk shall certify to the adoption of this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be published once in The Arcadia Jouxnal and The Arcadian, a semi-weekly newspaper published and circulated in sadd Oity of Arcadia and thereupon and thereafter the same shall take effect and be in force.
