AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF
AROADIA AMENDING SECTIONS 13, 16 AND 26,OF ORDINANCE NO. 147 OF
SAID CITY OF AROADIA.
THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE 0 ITY OF ARCADIA DO ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: That Section 13 of Ordinance No. 147 of
said Oity of Arcadia, entitled: IAn Ordinance of the Board of Trus
tses of the Oity of Arcadia providing for licensing and regulat-
ing the carrying on of certain businesses. professions. trades.
callings and occupations carried on within said Oity of Arcadia
and repealing Ordinance No. 103 of said Oity of Arcadia. and all
other Ordinances of said Oity of Aroadia in conflict therewithn,
adopted November 17. 1924. be and the same is hereby amended to
read as follows:
SEOTION 13: A licenss o:f $12.00 per annum for every
person, firm or corporation engaged in managing or carrying on
any of the following occupations or businesses:
(a) Hotels, Lodging Houses. Boarding Houses, Apartment
Houses. letting furnished rooms or apartments where there are five
or more rooms used for such purpose.
(b) Selling, offering to sell or exchange, mortgagi~g
or leasing real estate as agent or solicitor.
(c) Peddlers of g9ods. wares, merchandise, poultry,
vegetables, candies, cream, tamales, peanuts, popcorn or food or
articles of any description not otherwise herein provided for.
using a wheeled vehicle on a regularly established route follow-
ed at least three times a week.
(d) Belling or delivering milk or cream Which are the
products of three or more cows or goats.
(e) Oonducting the business of selling ice cream, con-
fections, soft drinks or carbonated water.
(f).Dealing in second-hahd clothing, household furni-
ture or second-hand merchandise of any kind.

(g) Soliciting for paintings, making photographs, pic-
tures, portraits, re-touching or changing the same, orders for
advertising, orders for sale of goods, wares or merchandise where
carried on in a regularly established store or fixed place of bus-
iness.
(h) Oarrying on the business of a lumber yard.
(i) Theater, concert hall, moving picture show cr other
places of amusement.
(j) Public garage, selling automobiles, motor trucks,
motorcyoles, or other motor vehicles or accessories thereto or
carrying on the business of a filling station for the sale of gas-
oline or other automobile oils or products.
(k) Restaurants, cafeterias, lunch counters, serving
meals or lunches when not run in connection with a boarding house.
(1) For each tank,wagon or vehicle used for hauling,
peddling or delivering gasoline, oil, crude oil or distillate of
any kind.
(m) Business of dyeing cloth, cleaning or pressing
clothes or merchant tailoring.
(n) Bottling non-intoxicating beverages of any kind.
(0) Barber shOps, hairdressing or beauty parlors, watc
makers, jewelers, blacksmi~h8, meat-market, selling ice at retail
stationery, periodiCalS or musioal instruments.
. ~,) Plumbing or gas fitting, eleotric wiring, install-
ation of electric or gas fixtures.
(q) For each cart, dray, wagon, automobile or vehi-
cle used for transportation of freight or goods for hire, hauling,
lumber, gravel, sand or other light materials.
(r) Selling wood, coal, grain, poultry, fruits or
poul try foods.
(s) Operating a bakery, selling bread or products of a
bakery.

(t) Business of undertaker, embalmer or funeral direct-

SECTION 2:. That Section 16 of said Ordinanoe No. 147
be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
SECTION 16: For every person, firm or corporation
conduoting, managing or carrying on the business of col}eoting,
(purohasing, selling or dealing in junk or rubbish, and not hav-
ing a regularly established or fixed place of business, the sum
of 836.00 per annum, or if having a regularly established or fixe
place of business, the sum of $.12.00 per annum, provided that
every such person, firm or corporation, before transporting any
such junk or rubbish from the City of Arcadia shall file with the
said .City Marshal a detailed statement, giving the date, descrip-
tion, person from whom and place from which each of such articles
of junk or rubbish shallhave been purchased or obtained and shall
hold suoh junk or rubbish for a period of 24 hours in the City
of Arcadia after delivering such statement to said City Marshal
or shall submit such junk or rubbish to the inspection of said
01 ty Marshal and obta1n his wri tten consent to the removal ther
of from said City of Arcadia.
SECTION 3: That Section 26 of said Ordinance No. 147
be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
SECTION 26: For every person, firm or corporation con
ducting or carrying on any mercantile business of any kind what-
soever, not hereinbefore mentioned, or conducting or carrying
on any business in any store or place where goods, wares or mer-
chandise of any kind, nature or description not hereinbefore
mentioned, are sold, the sum of $la.ooper annum.
SECTION 4: The City Olerk shall oertify to the adop-
tion of this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be published
onoe in the Arcadia Journal and The Arcadian, a semi-weekly

thirty days from and after the final passage thereof. the same
shall take effect and be in force.
The foregoing Ordinance was adopted at a regular meet-
ing of the Board of Trustees of the City of Arcadia, held on the
7th. day of April. 1926. by the affirmative vote of at least three
Trustees. to-wit:
