SUMMARY
The Arcadia Public Library Foundation, as part of its ongoing mission to support the Library's
goals and objectives, is donating $21,610.00 to the Library for programs and services.
DISCUSSION
The funds being donated will be used for the following purposes:
• Chamber music concert series. This very popular series of four free concerts on
Wednesday evenings will continue to feature world-class musicians. The series
coordinator, Paul Stein, is a violinist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
• Live Homework Help: This will be the Library's sixth year of providing access to this site
which provides excellent one on one online tutoring for students of all ages. For the
third year in a row, the total cost of $16,000 will be shared equally by the Foundation
and the Arcadia Unified School District.
• English Conversation Class: Funds will be used to provide tutor materials and the
monthly Easy English News for the English Conversation Class held at the Library each
Monday. These materials enrich the class experience for both tutors and the
approximately 100 students who attend each week.
• Koha Development: Funds will be used to implement development of the Library's
integrated library system, Koha.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no impact to the City's budget. The Library Board approves expenditures of all
donations.
