ORDINANCE NO. 1427
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ARCADIA AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE TO
INCREASE THE SIZE OF PARKING SPACES FROM 8~
FEET TO 9 FEET AND PROVIDING FOR THE STRIPING
THEREOF.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Sections 9261.3.4, 9262.3.4 and 9263.3.4 are
amended so that each of said sections reads as follows:
"DIMENSIONS. Stall Size: Open and covered parking stalls
shall be not less than nine (9) feet wide and twenty (20) feet long.
Aisle Width (00 -450): Parking spaces laid at angles
through forty-five (45) degrees to the aisles or driveways shall have
a one-way aisle or driveway width of not less than sixteen (16) feet.
Aisle Width (460 _600): Parking spaces laid at angles from
forty-six (46) degrees through sixty (60) degrees to the aisle or
driveway shall have a one-way aisle or driveway width of not less
than twenty (20) feet.
Aisle Width (610 -900): Parking spaces laid at angles from
sixty-one (61) degrees through ninety (90) degrees to the aisle or
driveway shall have an aisle or driveway width of not less than
twenty-five (25) feet.
Parallel Parking: Parallel parking spaces shall have
twenty (20) foot minimum aisles and ten (10) foot by twenty-four (24)
foot parking stall size."

SECTION 2. Sections 9261.3.8, 926~.j.8 and 9263.3.8 are
amended so that each of said sections reads as follows:

"MARKING OF SPACES. Each parking space shall be clearly
marked with paint or other easily distinguishable material and shall
be marked so as to provide a seven foot unmarked space midway between
the sides of the space and an island two feet in width between the
seven foot unmarked areas."
SECTION 3. The City Council finds that the public necessity,
convenience, general welfare and good zoning practice justify the
above amendments.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this ordinance.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing ordinance was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia held
on the 16th day of March
, 1971, by the affirmative vote of
at least three Councilmen, to wit:
