I AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DECLARING ALL PORTIONS OF ANY PUBLIC STREET, ROAD I BOULEVARD, DRIVE; OR AVENUE IN SAID CITY OF ARCADIA, IMPROVED WITH AN OIL MACADAM : PAVEMENT, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF FOOTHILL BOULEVARD, HUNTINGTON I DRIVE, DUARTE ROAD, BALDWIN AVENUE AND- A PORTION OF SANTA ANITA' I AVENUE, TO BE OPEN, PUBLIC BOULEVARDS AND PROHIBITING HEAVY TRAFFIC, THEREON AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 161 OF SAID CITY OF ARCADIA. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DO ORDAIN AS FOL- 2 3 4 5 LOWS: 6 . SECTION 1: That Ordinance No. 161 of said City of Arcadia, 7 entitled: "An Ordinance of the Board of Trustees-of the City of cadia deolaring all portions of any P.ublio Street, Road, Drive, or Avenue in said City of.Aroadia, improved with an oil macadam pavement, with the exception of a portion of Santa Anita Avenue, Ar- I I I I I I 8 9 10 11 White Oak Avenue, (also commonly known as Foothill Boulevard), 12 Huntington Drive, Duarte Road and Baldwin Avenue, to be open, pub- 13 lio boulevarde and prohibiting heavy traffic thereon", adopted August 19, 1925, be and the same is hereby repealed. SECTION 2: That all Public Streets, Roads, Boulevards, 14 15 16 Drives. Avenues or parts of Publio Streets, Roads, Boulevards, Drives or Avenues in said City of Arcadia improved with an oil maoadam pavement, with the exoeption of Foothill Boulevard, Hunt- 17 18 19 ington Drive, Duarte Road, Baldwin Avenue and Santa Anita Avenue 20 from Azusa Road to said Foothill Boulevard, be and the same are 21 hereby declared to be and are hereby dedicated as open, publio 22 boulevards, along and upon which it shall be unlawful for any per- 23 son, firm or oorporation to drive or cause to be driven any truck, 24 dray, wagon, oil wagon, tank wagon, oart or other vehicle employed 25 in carrying any rock, sand, earth, gravel, oil, coal, wood, manure, 26 lumber, brick or other building materials, prOvided however, that 27 this Ordinance shall not apply to the use of such Boulevards by 28 vehicles oarrying any of the articles or materials hereinabove 29 specified to and from the premises fronting on said Boulevards to 30 the nearest intersecting Streets or Avenues with such Boulevards. 31 SECTION 3: That any person, firm or corporation violat- 32 ing any of the provisions of this Ordinance Shall be deemed guilty I -1- {J~ /!d. ;2(!/ " 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 . 0 13 z c z " 14 O:t5~ W.clll~ C)..JIUO ll::1-.J!!: 15 ~ " " :> :;: < I-lQlUU U) >- z . ~ < ~Z~> 16 z~~~ ZI-l')Z ::>~o~ 17 Cl ~ N . 0 N 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be punishable by a fine not exceeding $300.00 or by imprisonment in the City months! I , I Jail of the.City of Arcadia for a period not exceeding three or by both such fine and imprisonment. SECTION~: This Ordinance is required as an emergency measure for the immediate preservation of all Public Streets, Roads, ,Boulevards, Drives or Avenues in said City of Arcadia im- proved with an oil macadam pavement~ with the exception of the gtr~ets'and Avenues excepted from the provisions of this Ordinanoe, aB~ conEl1derable heavy traffio ie now travelling over such Streets ann Avenues and will oause irreparable damage thereto if allowed .to oontinue and therefore the passage of this Ordinance to prohibit sueh traffio theraan is immediately required. :',.', SECTION 5: The City Olerk shall certify to the adoption of this~Ordinance and shall cause the same to be published once in The Arcadia News, a weekly newspaper published and circulated in said City of Arcadia and thereupon and thereafter the same shall take effect and be in force.
