AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA
AMENDtNG SECTIONS 1 AND '2 OF ORDINANCE NO. l06'OF SAID CITY OF AR-
CADIA.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADI~ DO ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: That Section 1 of Ordinance No. 106 of said
City of Arcadia, entitled: "An Ordinance of the Board of Trustees
of the City of Arcadia providing for the removal of weeds, rubbish,
and other waste matter from lots or the sidewalk in front thereofll ,I
adopted July 5, 1922, be and the same is hereby amended to read
as follows:
SECTION 1: That it shall be the duty of the owner,
agent or person in control of any lot, piece or parcel of land in
said City of Arcadia, to remove therefrom and from the sidewalk in
front thereof, on or before the 15th. day of Apr~l of each and
every year, all noxious weeds, vegetation and all rubbish, refuse,
and waste matter of all kinds.
SECTION 2: That Section 2 of said Ordinance No. 106
be amended to read as follows:
SECTION 2: If such owner, agent or person in control,
of said property shall fail or refuse to remove such materials
from said property on or before the 15th. day of April of each and
every year, in accordance with the provisions of the preceding
Section, it shall be the duty of the Superintendent of Streets of
said City of Arcadia to remove by burning, plowing or other suit-
able means, such materials therefrom, in which case said Superin-
tendent of Streets shall make out a veri~ied statement of the ex-
penses incurred by him in makin~ such removal and place the same
. '
on file with the City Clerk of said City on or before the first
day of July of each and every year hereafter. Said statement shal
show the number of the Lot and Block; also the name of the Tract
or Subdivision in which the Lot lies or describe the Lot in any
other way, provided however, that one or more Lots may be set fort
in one and the same statement.

SECTION 3:
This Ordinance is urgently required for
1 the immediate preservation of the pUblic peace, health and safety
3 as noxious weeds and vegetation growing on lots in various por-
. '
4 I tions of the City of Arcadia const i tute a fire hazard and the pas-
s sage of this Ordinance requiring the removal of same on or before
6 the 15th. day of April of each and every year, including the year
7 1928, is immediately required.

SECTION 4: The City Clerk shall certify to the adop-
9 tion of this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be published
10 once in The Arcadia News, a weekly newspaper published and cir-
11 culated in said City of Arcadia and thirty days from and after
12 the final passage thereof the same shall take effect and be in
force.
The foregoing Ordinance was adopted at a regular meet-
ing of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, held on the 2nd.
day of April, 1929, by the affirmative vote of at least three
Councilmen, to-wit:

19 Schermerhorn,

21 and signed and approved this 2n4. day of April, 1928.
