THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DO ORDAIN AS FOL-: LOWS: SECTION 1: That Section 13 of Ordinance No. 147 of the City of Arcadia, entitled: IIAn Ordinance of the Board of Trustees of the City of Arcadia providing for licensing and regulating the carrying on of certain businesses, professions, trades, callings and occupations carried on within said City of Arcadia and repeal- ing Ordinance No. 103 of ~aid City of Arcadia and all other Ordi- nances of said City 0 f Arcadia in co nflict therewi th~l, adopted November 17,1924, be and the same is hereby a~ended to read as follows: SECTION 13: A license of $18.00 per annum for every per- son, firm or corporation engaged in managing or carrying on any of the following occupations or businesses: (a) Hotels, Lodging Houses, Boarding Houses, Apartment Houses, letting furnished rooms or apartments where there are five or more rooms used for such purpose. (b) Selling, offering to sell or exchange, mortgaging or leasing real estate as agent. or solicitor. (c) Peddlers of goods, wares, merchandise, poultry, vege- tables, candies, cream, tamales, peanuts, popcorn, food or articles of any description, not otherwise herein provided for, using a wheeled Jehicle on a regularly established route followed at least three times a week. (d) Selling or delivering milk or cream which are the 31 32 prOducts of three or more cows or goats. (e) Conducting the business of selling ice cream, con- fections, soft drinks or carbonated water. (h) Carrying on the ousiness of a lumber yard. (i) Theater, concert hall, moving picture show or other place of amusement. (j) Public garage, selling automobiles, motor trucks, motorcycles, or other motor oehicles or accessories thereto or carrying on the business of a filling station for the sale of gasoline or other automobile oils or products. (k) Restaurants, cafeterias, lunch counters, serving meals or lunches when not run in connection with a boarding house. (1) For each tank wagon or vehicle used for hauling, peddling or delivering gasoline, oil, crude oil or distillate of any kind. (m) Business of dyeing cloth, cleaning or pressing clothes or merchant tailoring. (n) Bottling non-intoxicating beverages of any kind. (0) Barber shops, hairdressing or beauty parlors, watch- makers, jewelers, blacksmiths, meat-market, selling ice at retail, stationery, periodicals or musical instruments. (p) For each cart, dray, wagon, automobile or vehicle used for tra.nsportation of freight or goods for hire, hauling lum- ber, gravel, sand or other light materials. (q) Sellir~ wood, coal, grain, poultry, fruits or paultry foods. The sum of Fifty ($50.00) Dollars per annum for every person, firm or corporation carrying on or engagi g in the business or occupation of a plumber or pl~~bing or gas fit ting . SECTION 3: That said Ordinance No. 147 be and the same is hereby amended by adding thereto a new Section to be kno and numbered as Section 13b and to rea.d as follows: SECTION 13b: The sum of Fifty ($50.00) Dollars per annum for every person, firm or corporation carrying on or en- gaging in the business or occupation of electrical contracting- or wiring or the installation of electrical fixtures. SECTION 4: The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be pub- lished once in The Arcadia News-Journal, a weekly newspaper pub- lished and circulated in said City of Arcadia and thirty days from and after the final passage thereof the same shall take ef- feet and be in force. The foregoing Ordinance was adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia held on the 6th. day of November, 1929, by the affirmative vote of at least three Councilmen, to-wit: AYES: Councilmen: Bolz, Granville, Multer, Schermer- horn and Walshe, NOES: None, and signed and approved this 6th. day of November, 1929. c?ll~ ATTEST: Mayor /.5/Yll~ City Clerk. -, Od, ::730
