ORDINANCE NO. 240.
1
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA
DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO ORDER THE EXTENDING, LAYING OUT AND
OPENING OF FOURTH AVENUE BETWEEN VALNETT AVENUE AND WALNUT AVENUE
IN THE CITY OF ARCADIA, COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES, STATE OF CALIFORNIA.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DO ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: That the public interest and convenience
require and it is hereby found and determined that the public
interest and necessity require, and it is the intention of the
City Council of said City of Arcadia to order the following im-
provement to be made, to-wit:
That FOURTH AVENUE, a public street in said City of
Arcadia, be extended, laid out and opened between the Southerly
line of Valnett Avenue and the Northerly line of Walnut Avenue
in said City of Arcadia,
SECTION 2: That the lands necessary and convenient to
betaken for the improvement described in Section 1 hereof are
situate in the City of Arcadia, County of Los Angeles, State of
California andare more particularly described as follows, to-wit:
The Easterly thirty (30) feet of Lots 104, 105 and 106,
of the Arcadia Acreage Tract, as per Map recorded in Book 10,
Page 18 of Maps, Records of said County;
The Westerly thirty (30) feet of Lots 111, 112 and 113
of said Arcadia Acreage Tract.
SECTION 3: That the boundaries of the District in the
City of Arcadia, County of Los Angeles,State of California, to
be benefited by said improvement and to be assessed to pay the
expenses thereof and to be known as the Assessment District, are
hereby fixed as follows, to-wit:
Beginning at the Northwest corner of Lot Number 104 of
the Arcadia Acreage Tract, in the City of Arcadia, County of Los
Angeles, State of California, as per Map recorded in Book 10,
Page 18 of Maps, Records of s8,id County; thence Easterly along
the Southerly line of Valnett' Avenue to the Northeast corner of

Lot 113 of said Tract, thence Southerly along the Westerly line
of Sixth Avenue to the Southeast corner of Lot 111 of said Tract;
thence Westerly along the Northerly line of Walnut Avenue to the
Southwest corner of Lot 106 of said Tract; thence Northerly along
the Easterly line of Second Avenue to the place of beginning.
SECTION 4: Reference is hereby made to Map No. W-23
approved by the City Council of said City of Arcadia on the 2nd.
day of April, 1930, and on file in the office of the City Engin-
eer of said City, which said Map indicates the lands necessary
and convenient to be taken for said improvement and indica,tes by
a boundary line the extent of the territory to be included in
the Assessment District for said improvement.
SECTION 5: That the proceedings for the aforesaid
improvement shall be taken under the II Street Opening Act of 190311,
and the Street Superintendent of said City of Arcadia shall post
notices of the passage of this Ordinance in the manner required
by said Act, and it is by said Council further determined and
ordained that improvement bonds may issue to represent the assess-
ment for said improvement in conformity to and under the provis- ,
ions of and in accotdance with the requirements of an Act of the
Legislature approved April 27, 1911, entitled: "An Act Providing
for the Issuance of Improvement Bonds to Represent Certain Spec-
ial Assessments for Public Improvements and Providing for the Ef-
fect and Enforcement of SUch Bondsll, as amended.
SECTION 6: That Wednesday, the 7th. day of May, 1930,
at the hour of eight o'clock P. M. of said day, is the day and
hour, and the Council Chamber in the City Hall in the City of
Arcadia is the place fixed by said City Council when and where
any and all persons having any objections to the proposed work
or improvement or to the extent of the Assessment District, or
both, may appear before said City Council and show cause why said
improvement should not be camried out in a.ccordance with this

SECTION 7: The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be published twice
in The Arcadia News, a weekly newspaper published and circulated
in said City of Arcadia and hereby designated-for that purpose and
thereupon and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
Said Ci ty Council does not deem it advisable that the City Olerk
shall mail copies of "Notice of Public Improvement under Street
Opening Act of 1903", to the owners or reputed owners of property
within said Assessment District, and the mailing of such notices
is hereby dispensed with.
The foregoing Ordinance was adopted at a regular meet-
ing of the City Council of said City of Arcadia held on the 16th.
day of April, 1930, by theaffirmative vote of at least three
Councilmen, to-wit:

horn and Walshe,
NOES: None,
and signed and apnroved this 16th.day ~f April, 1930.
