HomeMy WebLinkAbout1979 ORDINANCE NO. 1979 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, ADDING SECTION 4912.5 TO THE ARCADIA MUNICIPAL CODE REGARDING ALLOWANCE OF TEMPORARY DIRECTIONAL SIGNS ON CITY PARKWAYS AND MEDIANS THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY FIND, DETERMINE AND ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That Section 4912.5 is hereby added to the Arcadia Municipal Code to read as follows: 4912.5. EXCEPTION. Temporary Directional signs. The prohibition set forth in Section 4912.1 shall not apply to the placement of temporary directional signs in City parkways and medians for events sponsored by non-profit organizations, subject to the following requirements: a. A "directional sign" is a sign that does not exceed 3 feet in height (above street level) that gives locational direction to pedestrians and vehicles. b. "Temporary" shall mean the allowance of such sign on the parkway for no more then two (2) days prior to the scheduled event. All such signs must be removed within twenty-four (24) hours of the event. c. Approval of a temporary sign permit shall be by the City Director of Public Works or his designee. Issuance of the permit is subject to reasonable conditions and specifications as determined by the Public Works Director. 1 d. No permit shall be issued until a hold harmless agreement and appropriate insurance are provided naming the city as an additional insured, as approved by the Arcadia City Attorney. e. The exception authorized by section 4912.5 shall apply to one (1) event only for any eligible organization in any calendar year. SECTION 2. That the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Ordinance and shall cause a copy of the same to be published in the official newspaper of said City immediately upon its adoption.
