ORDINANCE NO. 350
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 170 OF SAID CITY OF ARCADIA, APPROVED
MARCH 3, 1926, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF SECTION 4 THEREOF.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES ORDAIN AS

FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1:
An application having heretofore been filed
in the office of the City Planning Commission, pursuant to Section
4 of Ordinance No. 170 entitled "An Ordinance of the City of Ar-
cadia, California, providing for the establishment or erection in
said City of Seven Zones consisting of various districts and pre-
scribing the class of buildings, structures, improvements and
occupancy in said Seven Zones and the use thereof; the percentage
of area that may be covered by improvements and the height to which
buildings may be erected; defining the terms used therein and pre-
scribing the penalties for the violation of the provisions thereof;"
asking that exception be made affecting the property in said appli-
cation and setting forth the specific reasons therefor and the cir-
cumstances in connection therewith, and recommendation having been
made by the Planning Commission to this Council, and a full investi-
gation having been made and consideration of the facts havine; been
made by this Council bearing upon such application; this Council
determines that the granting of the request made therein will not
be materiaily detrimental to the public welfare or injurious to the
property or improvements within the zone and district within which
said property is iocated, and will not be inconsistent with the
general purpose of the said Ordinance No. 170, and that unless
such request is granted, substantial property rights of the
applicant will be curtailed, and that this Council therefor excepts
from the provisions of Zones A, Band C of Ordinance No. 170 of
the City of Arcadia the property herein described, but only so far
as such exception is necessary to permit the following described

property, to-wit:
Commencing at a point in the Westerly line of Santa
Anita Ave. 450.93 feet North of the North line of
Colorado Blvd.; thence North along the West line of
Santa Anita Ave. 338.36 feet; thence West 1551.68
feet to the Southwesterly line of said lot; thence
Southeasterly thereon 600.32 feet; thence East 1056.93
feet to the point of beginning, being a portion of Lot
6, Tract 948, as recorded in Book 17 of Maps, page 21,
Records of Los Angeles County.
to be used for the following purposes:
A - To be used for the purpose of constructing and maintaining
a building or buildings to be used and occupied as:
B - Dwellings, barracks for employees, an office or offices,
wash rack and oil storage, warehouse for storage of equipment and

materials, automobile truck storage, fire equipment storage,
tractor storage, machine shop, repair shop, welding shop, paint
shop, cement warehouse, crane runway and crane service for hand-
ling materials and equipment, radio towers, radio transmitters
and receiving sets for use in connection with forest service,
gasoline storage tanks, provided that said gasoline storage tanks
are buried under the ground, and such similar uses as in the judg-
ment of the Planning Commission of the City of Arcadia, concurred
in by the City Council of the City of Arcadia are not more ob-
noxious than the uses above specified.
This exception is granted upon the following conditions:
A - That no building permit be granted for the construction
or erection of any building upon Ilaid property unless the plans
and specifications be first submitted to the Building Inspector of
the City of Arcadia, and that said plans and specifications arid
said building or buildings shall, in all particulars, comply with
the building ordinances and sanitary regulations of the City of
Arcadia.
B - That said property shall not at any time be used for
any purpose or purposes not specified in this Ordinance.

C - The .rights or privileges granted by this Ordinance are
granted and accepted by the persons affected thereby upon the
express condition that no building or buildings of any kind or
character shall be constructed or located within fifty (50) feet
of the curb line of the Westerly side of Santa Anita Avenue.
D - That in case any of the provisions of this Ordinance
are Violated, the property above described in this Ordinance
shall revert to Zones A, Band C of Ordinance No. 170, and the
rights and privileges herein granted shall terminate and cease.
SECTION 2: This Ordinance is deemed to be an urgency
measure and the reasons for such urgency are that the title to
the above described property is abou~ to pass to the Forest
Service of the United States Government and as soon as the title
passes it is expected that construction of buildings and the
moving in of equipment upon the property in order to prepare the
property for general forest service department, will be started.
SECTION 3:
The City Clerk shall certify to the adop-
tion of this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be published
once in the Arcadia Tribune, a daily newspaper published and cir-
culated in the City of Arcadia, and thereupon and thereafter the
same shall take effect and be in force.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Ordinance was adop-
ted at a reeular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia,
held on the OOth
day of April, 1937, by the affirmative vote of at
least four councilmen, to-wit:
