AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA REPEALING ORDINANCES NOS. 86 AND 125 OF SAID CITY OF ARCADIA AND A~NDING SECTIONS 26, 27, 31, 32,34, 35, 39 and 48 OF ORDINANCE NO. 33 OF SAID CITY OF ARCADIA. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: That Ordinance No. 86 of said City of Arcadia: I , entitled: "An Ordinance of the Board of Trustees o~ the City of Arcadia amending Ordinance No. 33 of said Oity of ! Arcadia, enti tl-! ! . ed: 'An Ordinance of the City of Arcadia providing for the asseS6~ - I ment and collection of City Taxes and repealing Ordinances Nos. 9i I and 12 of said City of Arcadia', adopted 'February 4, 1913, by I' amending Sections 27, 31, 32 and 35 thereof", adopted llay 21, 1919, be and the same is hereby repealed. SECTION 2: That Ordinance No. 125 of said City of Arca- dia, entitled: "An Ordinance of the Board of Trustees of the Cit of Arcadia repealing Ordinance No. 86 of said City of Arcadia and amending Sections 26, 27, 31, 32, 34, 35, 39 and 48 of Ordinance No. 33 of said City of Arcadia, entitled: 'An Ordinance of the City of Arcadia providing for the assessment and collection of i City Taxes and repealing Ordinances Nos. 9 and 12 of said City of I Arcadia', adopted February 4, 1913", adopted May 16, 1923, be and I the same is hereby repealed. SECTION 3: That Section 26 of said Ordinance No. 33 be' and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: SECTION 26: At the next regular meeting of the City Council of said City of Arcadia following the filst ~onday in , I I I ! "0. 1_ ,p 0\'.'" ~U' SECTION 27: As soon as said City Council has fixed the 2 rate of taxation for the year, the City Clerk must compute and en- 3 4 5 6 7 amounts due in install~ents as provided in this Section and foot 8 9 up the columns shouing the total amount of such taxes and on or before the Fourth Monday in September the City Clerk ~~st deliver said corrected Assessment Book to the Chief of Police and Ex- officio Tax and License Collector,~ith the full amount of the tax as levied and take his receipt for the amount of the taxes due thereon, whereupon the said City Tax Collector must publish a no- tice for two weeks in a neuspaper'of general circulation, printed and published in said City of Arcadia, if any, or if not, then by posting such notice in three public places in said City, specify- 1. That the taxes on all personal property secured by real property and one-half of the taxes on all real property will be due on the first day of November and will be delinquent on the fifth day of December next thereafter, at five o'clock P. M. and that un~esa paid prior thereto, ten per cent will be added to the amount thereof and that if said one-half be not paid before the t~entieth day of April next, at five o'clock P. M., an additional five per cent will be added thereto. That the remaining one- 26 half of the taxes on all real property will be payable on and 27 after the twentieth day of January next and uill be delinquent on 28 the twentieth day of April next thereafter, at five o'clock P. ~. 29 and that unless paid prior thereto, five per cent will be added 30 to the amount thereof. - 31 32 2. The times and place when and where payment of taxes may be made. SEOTION 5. That Section 31 of said Ordinance No. 33 , be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: i I SECTION 31: That on the fifth day of December of each i year,at five o'clock P. M. all taxes then unpaid, except the lastl installment of the real property taxes, are delinquent and there- i I after said City Tax and License Collector must collect an addition~ I , al ten per cent thereon; provided that if same be. not paid before I , i the twentieth day of April next thereafter at five o'clock P. M., I said City Tax and License Collector shall collect an additional I I five per cent thereon. On the twentieth day in April of each I year, at five o'clock P. M. all the unpaid portion of the remaini9r one-half of the taxes on all real property is delinquent and there~ after said Oity Tax and License'Oollector must collect an addi- I tional five per cent thereon, provided that the entire tax on any I real property may be paid at the time the first installment, as hereinabove provided, is due and payable and provided further, that the taxes on all personal property unsecured by real propert~ , shall be due and pa.yable immediately after the assessment of said I personal property is made. SECTION 7: That Section 34 of said Ordinance Eo. 33 be 11 and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: 12 ~.. . 13 z ! ~ O~~Z ,"c," 14 .~ -J. ~ a::"'III- :J C j ~ 15 I-- III ;; u tn~~.( ctS~3; z 0 ~ 0 '16 Zl-fla: :J~~~ o P 17 SECTION 34: After the settlement with ~he City Tax and License Oollector as prescribed in the foregoing Section, said City Council must charge said City' Tax and License Collector with the amount of taxes due on the delinquent tax list together with the penalty or penalties added thereto and the cost.of advertis- ing and within three days thereafter deliver the list to 'said Cit 18 Tax and LicenSe Cdllector. 19 SECTION 8: That Section 35 of said Ordinance No. 33 be 20 and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 SECTION 35: That on or before the first Monday in June of each year, said City Tax and Li~ense Collector must publish the' delinquent list, which must contain the names of the persons and a description of the property delinquent and the amount of taxes, penalties and costs due, opposite each name and description, with the taxes due on personal property, added to the taxes on real estate, where the real estate is liable therefor or the several taxes are due from the same person, firm or corporation. expenses of publication shall be charged against the City. SEOTION 11: The Oity Olerk shall certify to the adoptio of this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be published once in The Arcadia News, a weekly newspaper published and circulated in said Oity of Arcadia and on and after July 1, 1931 the same shall take effect and be in force. The foregoing Ordinance was adopted at a~ regular meet- ing of the Oity Oouncil of the Oity of Arcadia, held on the day of May, 1931, by the affirmative vote of at least three cilmen, to-wit: 19th.
