AN ORDINANCE OF THE OITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AROADIA
REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 196 OF SAID OITY OF ARCADIA AND AMENDING
SEOTIONS 2 AND 17 OF ORDINANOE NO. 104 OF SAID OITY OF ARCADIA.
THE OITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DO ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: That Ordinance No. 196 of said Oity of Ar-
cadia, entitled: "An Ordinance of the Board of Trustees of the
Oity of Arcadia amending Section 2 of Ordinance No. 104 of said
Oity of Arcadia", adopted May 4,1927, be and the same is hereby
repealed.
SECTION 2: That Section 2 of Ordinance No. l04 of sai
City of Arcadia, entitled: "An Ordinance of the Board of Trustees
of the City of Arcadia imposing a license tax upon dogs and re-
gulating the running at large, lioensing and impounding of dogs
and also providing for the control and eradication of rabies with-
in said Oi ty of Arcadia", adopted July 5, 1922, be and the same
is hereby amended to read as follows:.
SECTION 2: It shall be unlawful for any person, firm
or corporation to own, harbor or have the care, charge, control,
custody or possession of any dog over the age of three months,
within said City of Arcadia, without paying the following License
Fees for such animal:
For each male dog and every spayed female dog, $2..00
per annum and for every other female dog, the sum of $4.00 per
annum, provided however, that any person, firm or corporation
having a permit from the Oity Counoil of the Oity of Arcadia
to keep or maintain any Dog Kennel under the provisions of Ordi-
nance No. 136 of said Oity of Arcadia, or of any Ordinance amen-
datory thereof or supplementary thereto, shall pay in lieu of the
above Lioense Fees for all dogs over three months of age, kept
or maintained in such Kennel, the following License Feee:
Ten or less dogs, the sum of $15.00 per annum;
Eleven to thirty dogs, $25.00 per annum;
Thirty or more dogs, $50.00 per annum.

The owner or owners of every Dog Kennel in said Oity
of Arcadia shall make and file with the Oity Clerk of said Oity
of Arcadia, on or before the 30th. day of June of each and every
year, a sworn statement of each and every dog bought, sold or
kept in such Kennel during the fiscai year then terminating.
The.Oity Tax and License Oollector is hereby authorized
and directed to procure each year on or before the first day of
July, such numbee of tags as may be sufficient for use during the
year. Said tags shall be effective until the thirtieth day of
June of the year next ensuing and no longer. Every person owning, .
harboring or having the care, charge, control, custody or possess-
ion of such dog shall pay said License Tax therefor on or before
the first day of November of the year for which said Tag is is-
sued, or within four calendar months after the time when the dog
for which application is made, was acquired by the applicant. If
application is made after November first of the year for which
such tag is issued and more than four calendar months after the
dog for which application is made was acquired by the applicant,
the fee therefor shall be increased fifty cents.
Upon the payment of the fees aforesaid the City Tax
and License Oollector shall issue to the person owning, harbor-
ing, or having the care, charge, control, custody or possession
of such dog and making application for such license, a tag which
Shall have stamped thereon the date of the issuance and serial
number of the license and shall also issue a license containing
a particular description of the animal for which said license
and the corresponding tag are intended and shall be for the Bame
license period as the tag. Both the license and the tag shall
be renewed annually.
SEOTION 4: That Section 17 of said Ordinance No. 104
be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:

SECTION 17: That any person, firm or corporation vio-
lating any of the .provisions of this Ordinance shall be deemed
guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be pun-
ishable by a fine not exceeding $300.00 or by imprisonment in the
Oity Jail of said Oity of Arcadia, or in the Oounty Jail of the
Oounty of Los Angeles, state of California, at the discretion of
the Committing Magistrate, for.aperiod not exceeding three month,
or by both such fine and imprisonment.
SEOTION 5: This Ordinance is urgently required for the
immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety,
as said Oity of Arcadia has no Ordinance providing a License Tax
for owning and operating a Dog Kennel within said Oity of Arcadia,
resulting in said City losing revenue which should be properly
derived from the licensing of such Kennels and therefore the im-
mediate passage of this Ordinance exacting such License Tax is
required.
SEOTION 6: The City Olerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be published once
in The Arcadia News, a weekly newspaper published and circulated I

in said City of Arcadia and thereupon and thereafter the same Shafl
take effect and be in force.
The foregOing Ordinance was adopted at a regular meeting
of the City Council of the Oity of Arcadia, held on the 5th. day
of July, 1933, by the affirmative vote of at least four Oouncil-
men, to-wit:
AYES; Councilmen, Daniels, Krebs, Link, Schrader and
Seaman,
NOES; None,
and signed and approved this 5th. day of July, 1933.
