Very truly yours, C. B. LORTZ, Director of Public Works CEL/fn Enc. (5) cc - ey i - 41ftel"1 *OS DATE: June 15, 1967 TO: Lyman H. Cozad, FROM: C. E. Lortz, City Manager Director of Public Works SUBJECT: Arcadia Wash Bridge - Huntington Drive - Methodist Hospital The County of Los Angeles and the City of Arcadia propose to enter into a Co- operative Agreement whereby the bridge across the Arcadia Wash just southerly of the Methodist Hospital will be widened so as to provide easier access to the hospital site. This improvement is particularly needed for the emergency equipment and other personnel entering the site on an emergency basis, as well as normal hospital person- nel being afforded the protection of a left-turn bay. Under the terms of the agreement the County will prepare the plans, specifica- tions and cost estimate for the bridge widening and act in behalf of the City involv- ing all construction connected therewith. The City will have the opportunity to approve the plans prior to advertising and the County will pay all construction costs exclusive of right-of-way costs. The agreement further provides that the City will acquire and clear the right- of-way and slope easements at no expense to the County. Our agreement with the hospital has been reviewed by the City Attorney, and it is his opinion that the City and hospital can make the necessary property available for the construction of the bridge widening at no expense to either party. The hospital has agreed to relocate their sprinkling facilities. Based on the foregoing, it is recommended that the City Council approve the agreement by Resolution, and authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to execute the agree- ment in a form approved by the City Attorney. Respectfully submitted, C. E. LORTZ, Director of Public Works Ito APPROVED: „„,0471_4 ,. City anag= •+ CEL/fn 3 ,Q), /• 3b
