SUBJECT: AWARD A PURCHASE ORDER CONTRACT EXTENSION TO ERNIE'S
AUTO PARTS FOR THE PURCHASE OF AUTOMOBILE REPAIR
PARTS FOR CITY VEHICLES IN THE AMOUNT OF $31,877
Recommendation: Approve
SUMMARY
On November 2, 2010, the City Council approved a one (1) year purchase order
Agreement with optional contract extensions to Ernie's Auto Parts for the purchase of
automotive parts for City vehicles. Ernie's Auto Parts has reached the end of their
contract and has submitted a written offer to extend the existing contract for an
additional one (1) year in accordance with the existing Agreement. The contractor's
offer of extension does not reflect a change in price and all other conditions of the
Agreement are to remain in effect.
Based on the excellent service provided by Ernie's Auto Parts during the past year, staff
recommends that the City Council award a one (1) year purchase order contract
extension to Ernie's Auto Parts for the purchase and delivery of auto parts for City
equipment in the amount of$31,877.
DISCUSSION
The Public Works Services Fleet Section is responsible for the maintenance of all City
vehicles and the purchase of parts and accessories. As part of the City's ongoing
vehicle maintenance program, the Public Works Services Department purchases
automotive parts, accessories, emergency lighting, and brake services for safety and
non-safety equipment. To minimize unnecessary vehicle down time, it is necessary to
order items from local part suppliers who are able to provide needed parts in a very
short time frame.
