HomeMy WebLinkAbout0753 , \ ORDINANCE NO. 753 "V \ ' AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA AMEND- ING ORDIN&~CE NO. 276 OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, REGULATING PUBLIC DANCE HALLS, DANCE CLUBS AND PUBLIC DANCES IITTHIN SAID CITY, ADOPTED JULY 5, 1933, AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 369 OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, ADOPTED NOVE1ffiER 30, 1937, BY ADDING A ~l SECTION THERETO. THE CI~Y COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 276 of the City of Arcadia, entitled "An Ordinance of the City Council of the City of Arcadia regulating public dance halls, dance clubs and public dances within said City of Arcadia", adopted July 5, 1933, as amended by Ordinance No. 369 of the City of Arcadia, adopted November 30, 1937, be and the same is hereby amended by adding a new section to be added thereto and to be known IlS and numbered Section 6-C and to read as follows: "SECTION 6-C. Upon the application in writing of In y club or association of persons to conduct a dance, other than a public dance, for its members or bona fide guests, the City Clerk is hereby authorized and empowered to issue a permit to conduct such a dance. The provisions of this Section shall apply to dances held by memorial or fraternal associations, and dances held in connection with patriotic or holiday celebrations or festivals where such dances are casual or for one such occasion only and at a particular date, are not conducted more often than once a month and attended only by a special and bona fide selection of persons to be admitted or to be permitted to dance thereat. Any such permit may be revoked at any time by the City Council if the Council becomes satisfied that the conduct of such dance does not or will not comport with the public welfare for any reason or that the same will be conducted in an illegal, improper or disorderly manner. It SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Ordinance, and prior to the expiration of fifteen (15) days from the passage thereof, shall cause the same to be published once in the Arcadia Tribune and Arcadia News, a newspaper of g eneral circulation, published and circulated in the City of Arcadia~ and thirty (30) days from and after the final passage thereof said Ordinance shall take effect and be in force. -1- 1\<0:;)(&0 o ~ . 763 I HEREBY ClillTIFY That the foregoing Ordinance was adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, held on the 15th daJ' of February, 1949, by the affirmative vote of at least three Councilmen, to wit: AYES: Councilmen, Boucher, Klomp, Libby, Nugent and Russell NOES: None ABSENT: NOlle ,~/ City Clerk ~he i~ City of trcadia.
