AN ORDINJN CE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA,
CREATING THE POSITION OF PURCHASING AGENT, SPECIFYING THE
DuTIES TO BE PERFORMED AND FIXING THE COMPENSATION TO BE
PAID THEREFOR.
THE CITY COUNCIL 0 F TEE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That there is hereby created the p osi tion of PURCHASING
AGENT of the City of Arcadia; the duties to be performed in such pos~tio
to include the supervision a nd control of all purchases for or on behalf
of any department of the City of Arcadia, a municipal corporation, to the
end that the City may be assured of obtaining when needed suitable anc.
requisite materials and supplies of all kinds, available discounts based
upon quantity purchases and prompt payment theEefor and prompt delivery
of all 5uchpurchases at a reasonable cost.
It shall be the duty of the Purchasing Agent to establish and
maintain for all city purchases a proper system of controlled purchasing
which will include the use by all department heads and employees of
appropriate requisitions for all materials and supplies. The duties of
the Purchasing Agent and the methods employed in such position shall b,e
subject eo the approval and control of the City Council and to the pro.-
visions of any applicable ordinance or statute.
SECTION 2. Th~ R. C. Ewing be and he is hereby appointed to the
position of Purchasing Agent, in addition to his position as City ClerIc,
and that he be paid the additional sum of $75.00 per month as compen-
sation for t he added duties imposed upon him and for all services rendered
by him in such position. That said R. C. Ewing be and he is hereby
required to devl:lte such time to the duties of Purchasing Agent as may
be necessary or required by the City Council.
SECTION 3. That the duration of the employment hereby created
and the tenure of said R. C. Ewing in such position shall be at the
pleasure of the City Council.
SECTION 4. That the position hereby created and the employment
herein provided for shall be on a part-time and not a full-time basis
and the provisions of Ordinance No. 431 of the City of Arcadia, as

amended, pr01riding for the adoption of apersonnel system shall not
apply to or affect such position or to the employment of said
R. C. Ewing.
SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Ordinance and prior to the expiration of fifteen (15) days from the
passage thereof, shall vause the same to be published once in the Arcadia
Tribune and Arcadia News, a newspaper of general circulation, published
and circulated in the City of Arcadia, and thirty (30) days from and
after t he final passage thereof said Ordinan ce shall take effec t and
be in force.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was adopted at a
regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, held on the
17th day of May, 1949, by the affirmative vote of at least three
Councilmen, towit:
