ORDINANCE NO. 772
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA
ESTABLISHING SET BACK LINES ON A PORTION OF BALDWIN AVENUE
IN THE CITY OF ARCADIA.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That after a public hearing pursuant to Resolution
of Intention No. 1871, the City Council of the City of Arcadia does
hereby determine that the public peace, health, safety, interest and
welfare require" and it is hereby ordered that set back lines be
established on portions of the street hereinafter designated in the
Ci ty of Arcadia" which shall be as hereinaf.ter set forth.
SECTION 2. That it shall be unlawful for any person, firm or
corporation to orect, construct or locate any building or other structu.re
upon the followtng described lot or parcel of land fronting on the
westerly side of Baldwin Avenue in said City of Arcadia, towit:
That portion of Lot 5, Block "A" of the Santa Anita Land
Company's ~?ract, County of Los Angeles, State of California,
as per map recorded in Book 6 page 137 of Maps, in the office
of the County Recorder of said County, described as follows:
BEGINNING at the northeasterly corner of said Lot 5; THENCE
South 80045' West, along the Northerly line thereof 166.08
feet, more or less, to the Northeasterly corner of the land
conveyed by Edward T. Shekell to Anna H. Williams, by deed
dated 1/18/24, and recorded in Book 3081, Page 98 official
records of Los Angeles County"California; THENCE South 80 50'
East, parallel \nth the westerly line of said Lot 5, 207 feet,
more or less, to the Northerly line of land conveyed by
Edward T. Shekell and wife, to Walter C. Shekell and wife, by
deed recorded in Book 6411, Page 78 of deeds, Records of Los
~ngeles County; THENCE Easterly along said Northerly line and
the Easterly prolongation thereof to the Easterly line of said
lot 5; THENCE Northerly along said Easterly line to the point
of BEGINNING.
EXCEPT the northerly 25 feet included within

Company's Tract, in the County of Los Angeles, state of California, as per
map recorded in Book 6, page 137 of Maps, in the office of the County Recor-
der of said County, described as follows:
BEGINNING at a point in the North line of said Lot 5, distant thereon
West 266.08 feet from the Northeast corner thereof; THENCE South 80
50' East" parallel with the westerly line of said lot, 207 feet, mor,9
or less, to the intersection with the Westerly prolongation of the
Northerly line of the land conveyed By Edward T. Shekell an d wife, to
Walter C. ShekelI and wife, by deed recorded in Book 5~80, page 251 of
deeds;; tHENCE Easterly along said prolongation and the northerly linl9
of the land so conveyed, 100 feet; THENCE North 80 50' West, paralle:L
with the Westerly line of said Lot 5, 207 feet, more or less, to the
North line of said Lot 5; THENCE West along the Northerly line of said
Lot 5, 100 feet to the point of BEGINNING.
EXCEPTING therefrom the Northerly 25 feet, included within the lines of
Naomi Drive, 50 feet wide as now established, unless the same be set back
to a line which is distant twenty (20) feet Westerly from and parallel to
the Westerly line of said Baldwin Avenue.
SECTION ~. That any person, firm or corporation v iolating any of tho
provisions of this Ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and
upon conviction thereof shall be punishable by a fine not exceeding Three
Hundred ($300.00) Dollars, or by imprisonment in the City Jail of said
City of Arcadia, or in the County Jail of said County of Los Angeles, State
of California, at the discretion of the Committing Magistrate, for a period
not exceeding three (3) months, or by both such fine and imprisonment; and
each such person, firm or corporation shall be deemed guilty of a separate
offense for each day during any portion of which the violation of or failt~e,
neglect or refusal to comply with any of the provisions of this Ordinance is
committed, continulld or permitted.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Ordinance, and prior to the expiration of fifteen (15) days from the
passage thereof shall cause the same to be published once in the Arcadia

Tribune and News, a newspaper of general circulation, published
and circulated in the City of Arcadia, and thirty (30) days from and
after the final passage thereof said Ordinance shall take effect and
be in force.
I HEREBY CERTIFY THAT THE FOREGOING ORDINANCE was adopted
adjourned
at anregular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia,
held on the 30th day of June, 1949, by the affirmative vote of
at least three CounCilmen, towit:
