ORDINANCE NO. 714
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 326 OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA,
ADOPTED DECEMBER 3, 1935, PROHIBITING THE DESTRUCTION
OF TREES AND SHRUBS PLANTED IN PUBLIC PLACES.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That Section 3 of Ordinance No. 326 of the City
of Arcadia enti.tled "An Ordinance of the City Council of the City
of Arcadia prohibiting the cutting down, destroying or otherwise
interfering wi t;h any trees or shrubs planted in or along the
pUblic streets" alleys, parks or other public places' in said City
of Arcadia and prohibiting the placing of advertisements in and
upon said treeH or shrubs and repealing Ordinances Nos. 10 and 51",
adopted Decernbt3r 3, 1935, be and the same is hereby amended to
read as followB:
"SECTION :f1: That it shall be unlawful for any person,
firm or corporation to plant, remove, destroy, cut or
deface or in any manner to injure or to cause or permit
to be planted, removed, destroyed, cut or defaced, or
in any manner to be injured, any tree or shrub in any
public street, alley, park or other public place in
said City of Arcadia without first applying for and
receiving a permit in writing. therefor from the Street
Superintendent of said city so to do, which permit shalli
specifically describe the work to be done thereunder and
such permit shall be void and of no effect thirty (30)
days from and after t he date thereof. Any person, firm
or corporation whose application for a permit under this'
Section has been refused by the Street Superintendent
or who may consider that the provisions of this section
would cause a manifest injury to be done may appeal to
the City Council by serving written notice on the Street

street Superintendent, which notice shall be at once trans-
mitted to said City Council for final action and decision
thereon."
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Ordinance and cause the same to be published once in the
Arcadia Tribune, and Arcadia News, a newspaper of general circulation,
printed and published in this City, within fifteen (15) days after
the date of its adoption, and said Ordinance shall become effective
and be in force, thirty (30) days from and after t he date of its.
final adoption.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that t he foregoing Ordinance was adopted at
a regular meetlng of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, held
on the 15th day of June, 1948, by the affirmative vote of at least
three Councilmen, to wit:
