ORDINANCE NO. 721
AN ORDINN,CE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA,
CALIFORNIA, 1~KING A PER1UillENT EXCEPTION TO CERTAIN
PROVISIONS OF ORDINANCE NO. 439 OF SAID CITY, ADOPTED
JUNE 28, 1940.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.. .Petition of FRANCES FARRELL, having been filed in
the office of the Planning Commission of the City of Arcadia, pur-
suant to the provisions of Ordinance No. 439 of said City, adopted
June 28, 1940, asking that an exception be made affecting the property
described in said petition, and setting forth the specific reasons'
therefor and the circumstances in connection therewith, and recom-
mendation having been made by the Planning Commission to'this Council,
and a full investigation and consideration of the facts having been
made by this Ccuncil pertinent to this petition. this Councili deter-
mines that there are exceptional or extraordinary circumstances or
conditions applicable to the property involved and to the intended
uses thereof that do not e;enerally apply to the property or classes
of uses in the same 2X)ne or district in which said property is
located, and will not be inconsistent with the general purposes of
Ordinance No. 439, and that said property should be excepted from
the provisions of the zone created by said Ordinance No. 439 affect-
ing said property, but only insofar as hereinafter set forth; and
the requirements of said Ordinance No. 439 pertaining to the consent
of adjacent property owners having been complied with.
This Council, therefore, excepts from t he provisions of the
respective zone of Ordinance No. 439 of the City of Arcadia, the
property
hereinafter describedj'but only insofar as such exception is neces-
sary to permit the folloVling described property to wit;;
The south 100 feet of lot 33, Block 70, Santa Anita Tract,
as shown on Map recorded in Book 15, pages 89 and 90,

records in the office of the County Recorder of Los Angeles
County.
to be used for the pl~pose of operating, maintaining and conducting
thereon a private parking lot.
This exception is granted upon the followine; conditions:
(a) That said property shall not at any time be used for any
purpose or purposes not allowed in Zone R-2 of the City of Arcadia,
except as provided in this Ordinance;;
(b) That in case any of the provisions of this Ordinance are
violated, the property above described shall revert to Zone R-2. as
defined in Ordi.nance No. 439, and the rights and privileges herein
granted shall terminate and cease, in the event that any such
violation is not terminated within thirty (30) days or such further
time as the City Council may decide that the owners of said property
in the exercise of due diligence, require to correct such violation
after the owners of said property have been given written notice by
the City Council of such viole.tion.
(c) That petitioner shall construct a solid wall of cement
blocks, or similar materials, not less than four feet in height,
along the easterly line of the hereinabove described property.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Ordinance and prior to the expiration of fifteen (15) days
from the passage thereof, shall cause the same to be published
once in the Areadia Tribune and Arcadia News, a newspaper of e;eneral
circulation, published and circulated in the City of Arcadia, and
thirty (30) da;Ts from and after the final passae;e thereof said
Ordinance shall take effect and be in force.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was adopted at
a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, held
