It is hereby determined upon the basis of an engineering and traffic
survey that the .gpeed permi tted by state law upon the following streets

reason of widely spaced intersections and it is hereb:r declared that
the prima facie Ilpeed limit shall be as hereinafter set forth on
those streets or parts of streets herein designated when signs are
erected givinG notice thereof:

SECTION 2. DECREASJ;; OF SThTJ;; LAW I,;AXI MU1! SPEED.
It is hereby det6rmined upon the basis of an engineering and traffic
investigation that the speed permitted by state law outside of business
and residence districts as a~~licable upon the following streets is
greater than is reasonable or safe under the conditions found to exist
upon such streets and it is hereby declared that the prima facie speed
limit shall be as herein set forth on those streets or parts of streets
herein designated when signs are erected giving notice thereof:

S.b,CTION 3. HEGULH.TION OF' SPbED BY TRAFFIC SIGNALS. The City
l:mgineer is authorized to regulate the timing of traffic signals so
as to permit the movement of traffic in an orderly and safe manner

at speeds slightly at variance from the speeds otherwise applicable
\7ithin the district or at intersections, and shall erect appropriate
signs Giving notice thereof.
S.t;CTiOH 4. n That any person, firm or corporation v iolating any of
the provisions of this Ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor
and upon conviction thereof shall be punishable by a fine not exceedinr;
Five hundred Dollars (,ibOO.OO), or bJi imprisonment in the City Jail of
said City of Arcadia, or in the County Jail of the County of Los Angeles,
State of Culifornia, at the discretion of the Committing IJagistrate,
for a period not exceeding six (6) months, or by both such fine and
imprisonment.
ShCTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Ordinance and prior to the cxpiration of fifteen (15) days from the
passaGe thcreof shall cause the same to be published once in the Arcadia
Tribune and Arcadia ~ews, a newspaper of General circulation, published
and circulated in the City of Arcadia, and thirty days from and after
the final passage thereof said Ordinance shall take effect and be in
force.
