HomeMy WebLinkAbout0660 " ORDINANCE NO. ~~O AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, FIX- ING AND ESTABLISHING THE NAMES OF CERTAIN STREETS. The City Council of the City of Arcadia DOES ORDAIN as follows: Section 1. That the name of that certain street in said city, to wit, the first street northerly of Huntington Drive running in an easterly direction and lying between Santa Anita Avenue and Second Avenue, and sometimes heretofore called Walnut Street, Wheeler Street or Wheeler Avenue, be and the same is hereby fixed and established as Wheeler Avenue. Section 2. That the name of that certain street in said city running in an easterly direction from the westerly city limits to the easterly city limits, and sometimes heretofore called Main Street, Duarte County Road, County Road or Duarte Road, be and the same is hereby fixed and established as Duarte Road. Section 3. That the name of that portion of that certain street lying northeasterly of and adjacent to the right: of way of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad Company and extending from Huntington Drive north- westerly to Second Avenue, and sometimes heretofore called Second Avenue, be and the sam~ is hereby fixed and estab- lished as Second Avenue. i,1-":O \\,0 O~("/ 660 " Section 4. That the name of that certain street in said city, to wit, the first street westerly of Holly Avenue rUlming in a southerly direction and lying between Huntington Boulevard and Duarte Road, and sometimes here- tofore called EI Molino Avenue or La Cadena Avenue. be and the same is hereby fixed and established as La Cadena Avenue. Section 5. That the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this ordinance and prior to the expira- tion of fifteen (15) days from the passage thereof, shall cause the ,same to be published once in the ARCADIA TRIBUNE. a newspaper of general circulation, pUblished and circulat- ed in the Gity of Arcadia. Section 6. This ordinance is for the immediate preservation of the public health and safety and shall take effect immediately. The facts constituting its urgency are as follows: Proceedings under an improvement act for the construction of sewers, house connections and appur- tenances to give sewer service to the inhabitants of the City of Arcadia are being prepared. Such sewers must be constructed speedily to eliminate cesspools and other un- sanitary conditions. Every week of delay in getting the proceedings started creates hazards of unfavorable weather and other conditions which may mean a delay of months in the final construction and connection of the sewers. Some of the sewers are to be constructed in the above designated streets and the Street Improvement Law requires that the names of the streets be stated in the resolution of inten- 2. - \\oIO~~Q 0/<-(,".-1. b 6 () '. tion. If the names are not correctly stated, there is a possibility that the entire proceeding be held invalid and many months of delay caused thereby.
