ORDINANCE NO. 687
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA,
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 518 OF SAID CITY BY ESTABLISHING
CERTAIN REAL PROPERTY IN THE CITY OF ARCADIA AS A PORTION
OF FIRE ZONE NO. 1 OF SAID CITY.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCP~IA DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 518 of the City of Arcadia,
entitled "Ordinance of the City of Arcadia adopting a building
code for the City of Arcadia", adopted on the 20th dew of June,
1944, be and the same is hereby amended by adding thereto a
new section to be numbered Section 4J and to follow immediately
after Section 4I in said Ordinance No. 518 and to read as follows:
"SECTION 4J. All real property situated in the
City of Arcadia, County of Los Angeles, State of Calif-
ornia, which has ,beeh classified int6<either Zone C-l or
Zone C-2, or which may hereafter be so classified or
reclassified and changed into either Zone C-l or Zone C-2,
in pursuance of and in accordance with the provisions of
Ordinance No. 439 of the City of Arcadia, adopted June 28,
1940, is hereby made a part of Fire Zone No. 1 of the
City of Arcadia. The Fire District Map of the City of
Arcadia, heretofore adopted as the Fire Zoning Map of
the City of Arcadia on the 20th day of June, 1944, and
on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of
Arcadia, is hereby amended to show said real property
as being a portion of Fire Zone No. 1 as illustrated on
said Fire District Map of the City of Arcadia."
SECTION 2. 'rhis Ordinance is urgently required for the preser-
vation of the public peace, health and safety and the facts con-
stituting such urgency a~e as follows: Numerous applications are
pending at the present time for permission to erect buildings and
other structures for commercial purposes without adequate provision
for protection from the hazards of fire and the erection of such

buildings and other structures will result in an unhealthy, unsafe
and otherwise undesirable building program and will seriously injure
and injuriously affect the program planned for the development of
the City of Arcadia on a safe, sound and modern basis.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be published once in the
Arcadia Tribune and Arcadia News, a newspaper published and circulated
in said City of Arcadia, and thereupon and thereafter the same shall
take effect and be in force.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was adopted at
a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, held
on the 6th day of January, 1948, by the affirmative vote of at least
four Councilmen, to wit:
