ORDINANCE NO. 696
AN ORDINJiiNCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 630 OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA~ ADOPTED
FEBRUARY lB, 1947 BY ADDING THREE NEW SECTIONS THERETO TO
BE KNOWN AS AND NUMBERED SECTIONS SA, :h3C and JL:5D.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION JL~ That Ordinance No. 630 of the City of Arcadia,
adopted and approved February 18, 1947, entitled "An Ordinance
of the City Council of the City of Arcadia providing for the
supervision and regulation of the transportation of persons for
compensation upon the public streets and prescribing penalties
for the violation thereof", be and it is hereby amended by adding
thereto three n!lW sections, designated as "5A" to follow im-
mediately after Section S of said Ordinance, as "'13C"' and ":13DIII
to follow immediately after Section l~ of said Ordin81ce, as
amended, which Sections SA, 13C and l:5D shall read as followS',:
"SECTION 5A. Any owner to whom a permit has been issued under
the provisions of this Ordinance shall maintain a place of business:
within the corporate limits of the City of Arcadia and shall. main-
tain a telephonE! at such place of business provided, however, that
the City Council may grant or authorize to be issued an ownerls:
permi t hereunder to any person, firm or corporation who maintainsl
a principal place of business within the City of Los Angeles or
within the limits of any community, the boundaries of Which are
at least partially contigtous to the boundary of the City of
Arcadia, which latter permit, however, shall be limited to alloW"
such owner to operate within the City of Arcadia for the purpose
of transporting passengers for compensation from within the limits:
of the community wherein such applicant maintains a principal place
of business to locations within the City of Arcadia, a nd :from
locations within the City of Arcadia to locations within the com-
~unity wherein the owner maintains a principal place of business~

SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 630 of the City of Ar.cadia,
adopted .."d approved February 16, 1947, anti. tled nAn, Ordinance of
the City Council of the CitY' of Arcadia ,providing for the llUpervision
and regulation of the trai1Bportation of persons for compellB&tl.on upon
the public str<!ets and prescribing penalties for the violation thereofn,
be and it is b!reby amended by adding thereto three new sections,
designated as n5Aa to follow 1mmediatel,y after Section 5 of said
Ordinance, as "13C" and "13Da to follow 1Jmnediatel,y after Section 13B
of said Ordinance, as emended, which Sections SA, 13C and 13D shall
read as follows.
nSECTIO!!...2. An:! owner to whom a perm1.t has be!'ll issued under
the provisions of this Ordinance shall maintain a place of business
wi thin the corporate 11mi ts of the City of Arcadia and shall maintain
a telephone at such place of business provided, however, that the
City Council may grant or authorize to be issued an owner's permit
hereunder to any person, firm or corporation who ma1n:t;ains a principal
place of business within the City of Los Angeles or within the l1m1ts
of IU\Y communi,ty, the boundaries of which are at least partiall,y
cont1guous to the boundary of the City of Arcadia, which latter permit,
however, shall be limited to allow such owner to operate within the
City of Arcadia for the purpose of transporting passengers tor compensation
trom wi thin the 11mi ts of the c 01lllllWli ty wherein such applicant maintains
a principal place of bUllines6 to locations within the City of Arcadia,
and from 10cat.ions within the City of Arcadia to locations wi thin the
collllllWlity wherein the owner maintains a principal place of business
and not othenrise. Any application for such limited permit ehall be in
compliance wi th the requirements for applications filed as required by
Section 3 hertlof."
"SECTION 13C., The owner of every automobile for hire operating
in the City of ArCidia shall file or cause to be filed nth the City
Clerk of the City of Arcadia a true and correct statement of the rates
to be charged for the transportation of passengers in ~ and all
automobiles operated by said owner, and such owner shall not change or
modify said rates in a:n:r manner without first filing said changed or
modified rate" with said City Clerk',a

aSECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Ordinance andprfor to the upiration of fifteen (15) days from the
passage t/lereof, shall cause the same to be published once, in the
Arcadia Tribune and News, a newspaper of general circulation, published
and circulated in the City of Arcadia, and thirty (30) days from and
after the final passage thereof said Ordinance shall take effsct and
be in force.

may display an< unlighted sign with the words thereon IIFor Hirell.
Such sign shall be of metal and of a uniform size of 6 by 9 inches:,
provided, however, that every taxicab, as defined herein~ may
display an electrically lighted vacant sign attached to the top of
such taxicab, which lighted sign shall be not more than 2t inches-.

SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to t he adoption of
this Ordinance and prior to the expiration of fifteen (15) days:
from the passage thereof, shall cause the same to be published once.

take effect and be in force.
