ORDINANCE NO. 613
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ARCADIA MAKING A CONDITIONAL
VARIANCE TO CERTAIN PROVISIONS OF ORD-
INANCE NO. 439 OF SAID CITY OF ARCADIA,
AS AMENDED, PURSUANT TO, SECTION 25
THEREOF.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA
CALIFORNIA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. A petition signed by MINNIE MOSS CLARK
having been filed with the City Planning Commission,

pursuant to Section 25 of Ordinance No. 439 entitled
"An Ordinance of the City Council of the City of Arcadia,
establishing in said City of Arcadia, anes or districts
and regulating therein the use of property, height of
buildings and requiring open spaces for light and ven-
tilation; to regulate and restrict the location of
trades and industries and the location of buildings
designed for specified uses; providing for the enforce-

ment and prescribing pehalties for the violation thereof",
asking that exception be made affecting the property
described in said petition and setting forth the specific
reasons therefor and the circumstances in connection
therewith, and recommendation having been made by the
Planning Commission tq this Council, and a full inves-
tigation and consideration of the facts having been made
by this Council pertinent to such petition: this Council
determines that there are exceptional or extraordinary

circumstances or conditions applicable to the property
involved and to the intended use thereof that do not
generally apply to the property or classes of uses in the
same zone or district in which said property is located,
and will not be inconsistent with the general purposes of
Ordinance No. 439, as amended:
This Council therefore grants a Conditional variance
from the provisions of said Ordinance No. 439, as amended,

but only so far as such variance is necessary to permit
the following described real property, to wit:
Lot l7 in Block 66, Arcadia Santa Anita Tract,
miscellaneous records of Los Angeles County
as shown in Book l5 at pages 89 and 90 of Maps,
to be used for the purpose of conducting and maintaining a
ceramics studio.
This conditional variance is granted upon the following
terms and conditions:
1. That the property be used for the purpose of con-
ducting and maintaining a eeramics Studio upon the rear
portion of such property only, and for such other purposes
as are permitted by the rone or district in which the pro-
perty is now situated, and for no other purpose or purposes.
2. That no more than five (5) persons shall be em-
ployed or engaged in the operation, maintenance and manage-
ment of such Ceramics Studio at anyone time.
3. That upon any violation of any of the provisions
of this Ordinance the uses herein permitted shall cease.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Ordinance and prior to the expiration of fifteen (15)
days from the passage thereof, shall cause the same to be
pUblished once in the Arcadia Tribune and News, a newspaper
of general circulation, published and circulated in the City
of Arcadia, and thirty (30) days from and after ne final
passage thereof said Ordinance shall take effect and be in
force.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
