HomeMy WebLinkAbout0640 It' ORD INANCE NO. 640' AN ORDINANCE OF'THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA AMENDING SECTION 37 OF ORDINANCE NO.'497 OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, ADOPrED NOVEMBER 17, 1942. : . THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOVlS: SECTION 1. That Section 37 of Ordinance No. 497 of said City of Arcadia entitled "An Ordinance of the City Council of " the City of Arcadia providing for licensing and regulating the carrying on of certain businesses, professions, trades, callings and occupations within said ,City of Arcadia and repeal- ing Ordinances Nos. 232, 245, 268, 403 and 429," adopted November 17, 1942, be, and the same is hereby, amended to read as follows: "SECTION 37. CARNIVAL, ETC. -- FE~. Every person engaged in the business of operating, conducting, showing or maintain- ing any carnival or otner similar show or exhibition shall pay a license of Seventy-Five Dollars ($75.00) for the first day and the sum of Ten Dollars ($lO.OO) for each additional day, provided, however, that no person shall conductor carryon such business within said City without first having obtained a special permit therefor from the City Council. Said ,special permit shall be issued by the City Council unon writt~n application filed with said Council setting forth: (1) The name of the person engaged in the business of managing, carrying onror directing said carnival; (2) The place where such show is to be exhibited; (3) The type or manner oL'such exhibition; (4) The time, date and number of performances to be exhibited. Upon receipt of the anplication, the Council shall investigate the business of the applicant, the appropriateness of the location at which said appmicant proposes to engage in business as specified ~, au~.(J, 6' n.J' in the application, and the type of ::carnival proposed to be produced. Thereupon the Council may approve the application and authorize the issuance of a license thereon or the Council may deny any application if, in its jUdgmpnt, the granting of the requested permit would be contrary to the public interest or would result in appreciable discomfort or serious inconvenience to persons residing in the vicinity or if the proposed location is an inappropriate one. SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall. certify to the adoption of this Ordinance and prior to the expiration of fifteen (15) days from the passage thereof, shall cause the same to be published once in the Arcadia Tribune and News, a newspaper of general circulation, ,published and circulated in the City of Arcadia, and thirty (30) days from and after the final passage thereof said Ordinance shall take effect and be in force.
