AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA AMEND-
ING ORDINANCE NO. 439 OF SAID CITY, BY ADDING A NEW SECT ION TO BE
KNOWN AS AND NUMBERED SECTION 6A. .
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That Section 6A is hereby added to Ordinance No.
439 of the City of Arcadia, entitled "An Ordinance of the City Council
of the City of Arcadia, Establishing in said City of Arcadia, Zones
,
or Districts and Regulating therein the use of Property, Height of
Buildings and Requi~ing open spaces for Light and Ventilation; to
Regulate and Restrict the Location of Trades and Industries and the
Location of Buildings Designed for Specified uses; Providing for the
Enforcement and Prescribing Penalties for the Violation Thereof,"
adopted June 28, 1940, to read as follows:
SECTION 6A. VEHICLE STORAGE. For every family dwelling unit
hereafter erected, constructed, established, altered or enlarged in
,
Zone R-1A, Zone R-l, Zone R-2 or Zone R-J ,there shall be provided
space, with access to a public thoroughfa,re, for the storage of
passenger vehicles for the use of occupants in such dwelling units,
such space to be maintained on the basis of at least 126 square feet
for each family dwelling unit and upon the lot or parcel of land
on which such family dwelling unit is located. When not enclosed
within a building, such space shall be provided to the rear of the

setback line of the aforesaid lot or parcel of land. This requirement
for vehicle storage space, applicable to new, or additions or alterations

to existing, family dwelling units shall be a continuing obligation of
the owner of the property on which any such family dwelling unit is
located so long as the family dwelling unit is in existence and used as
such, and it shall be unlawful for an owner of any family dwelling unit

to cause the discontinuance or change of, the required vehicle
storage space without establishing alt~rnative vehicle storage
space which meets with the requirements of and is in compliance
with this ordinance.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Ordinance and prior to the expiration of fifteen (15)
days from the passage thereof, shall cause the same to be
published once in the Arcadia Tribune and Arcadia News, a news-
paper of general circulation, published and circulated in the
City of Arcadia, and thirty (30) days from and after the final
passage thereof said Ordinance shall take effect and be in force.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia,
held on the 20th day of May, 1947, by the affirmative vote of
at least three CounCilmen, to-wit:
