standing has been reached. The purpose of this document is to express that y
understanding in ac'cord:Ince.' with ;section 3505. 1 of the Government Code.
It is understood by the parties hereto that th l s Memorandum is not binding on
the City of Arcadis or the Ci_t' Council and will have no operative effect until

rancrum. Provisions which do not relate to economic considerations in any way, e.g. ,
grievance procedures, are not covered by this Memorandum.
MODIFICATIONS. ,
1. As of July 1, 1972, there shall be an across the board salary increase for
all classifications herein designated equal to 5%. The salary step schedules
to which said percentage change shall apply shall be rounded to the nearest
dollar.
2. The provisions of Section 21264 of the Government Code shall be made appli-
cable to all safety members of the Police Department effective as of July 1,
1973, or as,,soon as possible thereafter under the rules and regulations of the
Public Employees Retirement System. (Said provisions are commonly referred to
as the Widow's Clause. )
3. As of July 1, 1973, there shalL be an adjustment in the classification salary
step schedules equal to the percentage change in the U. S. Department of Labor,
Bureau of Labor Statistics, Consumer Price Index for Urban. Wage Earners and
Clerical Workers, Los Angeles/Long Beach, C, All Items -- Series A, (hereinafter
referred to as the Consumer Price Index) for the period May, 1972 through
May, 1973.
4. As of January 1, 1974, there shall be an adjustment in the classification salar
step schedules equal to the percentage change in the Consumer. Price Index for y
the period May, 1973 through November, 1973. .

There shall 1,e no decreat,o in salaries for any classification covered by
this Memorandum due to a decifize in the Consumer Price Index, and further, ,
each of the ply adjustments based on increases in the Co4E711mer Price Index
shall have an upper limit of 5%. All percentage changes referred to in
this Memorandum shall he rounded to the nearest tenth of one percent.

This Memorandum covers the following designated classifications : Policeman,
Policewoman, Police Agent , Police Sergeant, Police Lieutenant, Police Captain
and Police Clerk.
