SECTIOL 1. That the pUblic interest and convenience require,
and the City COill1Cil of the City of Arcadia does hereby declare its
intention to vacate all that portion of that certain public alley
extendin3 from the easterly line of Fourth Avenue to the westerly
line of Fifth AVElnue in Tract No. 8209 in the Ci ty of Arcadia, as
recorded in Book 107, Page 57 of illaps, records of Los An3eles County,
and further descl'ibed as all that portion of said alley bounded on
the north by Lots 16 and 17 and on the south by the south line of
said Tract No. 8209.
This Council further determines that the public convenience and
necessity require the reservation to the City of Arcadia of the right
at any time to construct, maintain, operate, replace, remove and nenew

sanitary sewers, storm drains and structures appurtenant thereto, lines
of pipe, conduits, cables, wires, poles and other convenient structures,
fixtu~es and equipment for the transportation or distribution of
electric energy, .~as and water, and incidental purposes including
access and the ri3ht to keep the property free from inflammable materials
and wood grovlth, llnd other\"lise protect the same from all haza.eds in,
upon and over the portion of said alley proposed to be vacated as
declared herein.
S~CTION 2. Any and all persons interested in or objectinG to
the proposed vacation may appear before this Council on the 16th
day of July, 1946, at 8:00 o'clock, P.M. of said day, in the Council
Chamber of said City Council, in the City Hall in the City of Arcadia
and show cause why said alley should not be vacated and a'Jandoned.
S~CTION 3. rbe Superintendent of Streets shall cause to be
posted notices of the passage of this Ordinance at the places and in
the manner as required by law.

SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Ordinance and prior to the expiration of fifteen (15) days
from the passage thereof, shall cause the same to be published once
in the Arcadia Tl'ibune and Arcadia News, a newspaper of general
circulation, pub:.ished and iSirculated in the City of Arcadia, and
thirty (30) days from and after the final passage thereof said
Ordinance shall take effect and be in force.
I hereby c€lrtify that the foregoing Ordinance I"las adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia,
beld on the 21st day of May, 1946, by the affirmative vote of at
least three Councilmen, to wit:
