SECT ION 1.
That Section 7. of Ordinance Ko. 373 of the City of
Regulating the Location, Erection, !.:aintenance and Conduct of Auto Trailer
Camps, and Providint; a Penalty for tIle Viola 'cion tIlereof.", adopted the
18th day of Ja,nuary, 1938, be and the sa.'71e is hereby amended to read as
follol'ls:
SECTION 7: Sanitation.
(a) On each and every trailer unit there shall be a connect;or.
to a CSXlp sewer consisting of cesspools or septic tanks arranged so that
the sanitary fixtures in any auto trailer may be readily connected there-
with. Immediately after being placed on a trailer unit, every auto trailer
sha'll have all its sanitary fixtures connected to said sewer or sealed so
that they cannot be used. Connection vrith such seVier ':nay be by l:leans of
riGid pipe. Flexible connections v;ill be perr.li tted provided the sanitary
protection afforded thereby is at least equal to that afforded by rieid
pipe connection.
(b) On each trailer uni t there shall be an ample supply of \'ia tel'
from the City \'later service for the use of the occupants thereof. There
shall be two outlets on such service, both of ,:rhich shall ::>e adapted for
hose connection.
(c) In every auto trailer camp there shall be prOVided not less
than one pUblic toilet for each sex for every ten (10) trailer units or
fraction thereof. In addition thereto there shall be one urinal for every
ten (10) trailer units. All toilet and urinal rooms shall have hard smooth
finisned ce~Bnt floors and shall have walls plastered with Portland cement
plaster vath a polished steel trowel finish. All corners shall be rounded
\'lith a fillet of not less than one-half (1/2) inch radius. Walls and floors
may be finished in non-absorbent tile in lieu of the cement finish spec-
ified acove.
(d) In every auto trailer camp tbere shall be provided one (1)
bath tub or stall sbo\'ler for eacb sex for every ten (10) trailer

units or fr~ction thereof. All such baths shall be provided at all
times with ~n ample supply of hot and cold water. Bath rooms shall
be constructed as specified for toilet rooms in subsection (c) of
this Section.
(e) In every auto trailer camp there shall be provided not
less than one (1) double compartment laundry tray and one (1) lavatory
for every ten (10) trailer units, and all such fixtures shall be at
all times provided with an ample supply of hot and cold water. All
such fixtures shall be :ins taIled in rooms construc ted as specified for
toilet rooms in subsection (c) of this Section. All bath rooms shall
be supplied with adequate heating equipment maintained in proper
operating condition.
(f) In every auto trailer camp there shall be provided not
less than one (1) sink ~~d one (1) slop sink for every ten (10) trailer
units, and such fixtures shall be supplied with an adequate supply of
hot and cold water.
(g) No trailer unit shall be more than two hundred (200) feet
from any of the sanitary fixtures required by this Section to serve
said trailer unit.
(h) Under and around every laundry tray sink, lavatory and
slop sink there shall be a concrete or tile fbor and such floor shall
extend three (3) feet in all directions beyond such fixtures.
(i) Every trailer unit shall be provided with a covered metal
water tight garbage can, which said can shall be so constructed as to
contain not less than three (3) nor more than sixteen (16) gallons.
Such garbage cans shall be kept on a concrete pavement not less than
three (3) square feet in area and four (4) inches in thickness, with
a smooth troweled top. In every auto trailer camp all such garbage
cans shall be colle c ted at one convenient place prior to garbage ~
collection time on each day on which garbage is collected in that
district. Immediately after the garbage has been collected all such
cans shall be carefully cleaned and returned to their respective
trailer units.

(j) Every auto, trailer camp shall be provided with a masonry
incinerator of a size suitable to handle the combustible wastes of
said camp and located as directed by the Chief of the Fire Department
of the City of Arcadia.
(k) In every auto trailer camp where automobiles or trailers
are washed or are to be washed, there shall be installed a wash rack
and no such washing shall be done except on such wamrack. All such
wash racks shall be paved with a continuous concrete floor slab not
less than fifteen (15) feet by twenty-five (25) feet by four (4)
inches thick and all parts thereof shall slope, toward a drain so con-
nected as to dispose of all waste w~ter without nuisance or creation
of an unsanitary condition.
SECTION 2.
The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Ordinance and prior to the expiration of fifteen (15) days from
the passage thereof, shall cause t he same to be published once in the
Arcadia Tribune and Arcadia News, a newspaper of general circulation,
published and circulated in the City of Arcadia, and thirty (30) days
f~om and after the final passage thereof said Ordinance shall take
effect and be in force.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Ordinance was adopted at an
adjourned
/regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, held on the
28th day of November , 1944, by the affirmative vote of at least three
Councilmen, to-wit:
AYES: Councilmen, Adcock, Billig, Leeper and Ormsby
NOES: None
ABSENT: Coun.p ilman Nugent.
