AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA AMENDING ORDIl~ANC:E: NO. 128 BY ADDING THERETO T',IO NE1V SECTIONS TO BE KNOWN AND NUMBERED AS SECTIONS 29A AND 29B. THE CI'I'Y COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES ORDAIN AS FO LLOrrs : ~t.~t.~\.t\"l SECTION.....!!. That Ordinance No. 128 of the City of Arcadia, ~v.'\l. \\0' 70' entitled, "An Ordinance of the Board of Trustees of the City of Arcadia, fixing the duties and powers of the City Electrician, regulating the installation, alteration and repair of inside electrical construction and providing for the inspection of same", adopted on the 21st day of November, 1923, be and the same is hereby amended by adding thereto two new sections to be known, numbered, and to read as follows: SECTION 29A. tfuen the Chief Electrical Inspector finds that a material, manner of construction, or installation is as safe for use as that required by this Ordinance, such material, manner of construction, or installation may be used in lieu of that req~ired in this Ordinance. SECTION 29B. In determining the safety of any proposed alternative. use of material, manner of construction, or installation, the Chief Electrical Inspector may require such physical , chemical and other tests as to him seem necessary to establish acceptability. The applicant shall pay the entire cost of such tests. SECTION ~ This Ordinance is required for the immediate preservation of public peace, health and safety, and the following is a statement of fact8 concerning such urgency: ~;.\.~ ~t.~" ~o. The ':far Production Board of the United States Government has Q~<;)' 10q issued a defense hOlwinG critical list, placing limitation on the use of critical materials in defense houses, which said action has been made necessary due to thE' military demands an limited supplies of certain materials essential to the National war effort, and that therefore, the provisions of this Ordinance are necessary to the continuation of defense housing activities. SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be published once in a regular issue of the Arcadia Tribune and Arcadia News, a newspaper of general -l- lllD~ eMf. -L// J - ..... .- circulation, pUblished and circulated in said City of Arcadia, and . thereupon and therllafter the same s hall take effe ct and be in force. The forogoing Ordinance was adopted at a j'efJU1nr meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, held on the 19th day of Mav , 1942, by the affirmative vote of at least four Councilmen, to-wit:: AYES: Cc.uncilmen, Adcock, Jonos, Leeper, Nugent and Ormsby.
