ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 497 OF SAID CITY BY ADDING THERETO TWO NEw SECTIONS TO BE KNOWN AND NUMBERED AS SECTION 41.1 AND SECTION 41.2, LICENSING AND REGULATING PUBLIC BILLIARD ROOMS AND PUBLIC POOL ROOMS IN SAID CITY, PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THB VIOLATION THEREOF, AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 419 OF SAID CITY. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION :!:... That Ordinance NO. 497 of said City or ArCadia, entitled "An Ordinance of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, providing tor licensing and regulating the carrying on ot certain businesses, profes- aiona, trades, callings and occupations within said City of Arcadia, and repealing OrdinancEls N08.232, 245, 268, 403 and 429.11, adopted on the 17th day of November, 11:142, be and the same is hereby amended by adding thereto two new sections tc be known and numbered as Sections 41.1 and 41.2, and to read as follows: SECTION 41.1. BILLIARD ROOM, ETC. FEE:. Every person engaeed in the business of operating any publio billiard table, publio billiard room, public pool table or public pool "'2 room, shall pay a l:lcense of Ten <tlO.OO) Dollars per annum tor eaoh table, ~ whether used or not" owned by or under oontrol or supervision of any suoh person, located on '~he premises where such business is conducted. No lioensEI shall be issued tor any public billiard table, publio billiard room, public pool table or public pool room, tor which a lioense is required under this Ordinance, until the Council of the City shall have issued a permit ther'etor upon written application, and the said Council shall have the right to grant or refuse any such permit in its discretion, and if suoh permit is granted, said Council may impose such terms, con- ditions and restrictions upon the operation, manaeement, and conduct ot said business, not in oonflict with any paramount law, as they may deem necessary or expedient to prot'3ct the health, safety or welfare of said City or i to inhabitants. SECTION 2. SECTION 3. Ord1nance No. 419 0 f the City of Arcadia, passed and adopted on the 3rd dllY of October, 1939, is hereby repealed. SECTION 4. The Oity Clerk shall certify to the adoption ot this Ordinance and pdor to the expiration of fifteen (15) days from the passage thereof, shall cause the same to be Published once in the Arcadia Tribune and Arcadia News, a newspaper of general circulation, published and circulated in the City of Arcadia, and thirty (30) d~s from and after the final pass8.8e thereof said Ordinance shall take effect and be in force.
