HomeMy WebLinkAbout0352 .J /J.-J~ ORDINANCE NO. 352 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA AMENDING SUBSECTION "A" OF SECTION 2 OF ORDINANCE NO. 307 OF SAID CITY OF ARCADIA. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLO\'IS : SECTION 1: That Subsection "A" of Section 2 of Ord:i.nance Number 307 of said City of Arcadia be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: (a) All streets must be not less than sixty (60) feet in width and shall be improved with curbs to a width of thirty-six (36) feet or a rolled spoulder to a width of thirty-eight (38) feet, which shoulder shall be at least six (6) inches higher than the lowest part of the paved roadw~y and at least four (4) feet in width from the low point in said pavement. Said shoulder to be of the same type of pave- ment as in the roadway. Said improvement to consist of oil macadam, pre-mix or other pavement of simi12r quality, as may be determined by said City Council and such pavement shall be of at least twenty-eight (28) pounds per square foot of area covered. On streets having a gradient less than three-tenths (0.3) of a foot per one hundred lineal feet of roadway, a concrete ~utter and curb will be required on either side of roadway. When the elevation across a sixty (60) foot street is greater than ~70 (2) feet, the width of paving shall not be less than thirty-six (36) feet for rolled shoulders and thirty-four (34) feet when curbs are installed. If the elevation is ~reater than four (4) feet, the width of pavinc shal1 not be less than thirty-four (34) feet for rolled shoulders and thirty-two (32) feet when curbs are installed; no nnvin3 to be less than the above widths; except where curbs are already in place prior to the adoption of this Ord:inance, then the width to be governed by existine curbs. The above type of pavement will apply on all streets and -1- od $Sd? ..--- hiehways except those as shown on map of the Reeional Planni~~ Com- mission of Los Angeles County, approved January 2, 1929, for pro- posed major and secondary highways through Arcadia, then the City Council will recomnend the k:l.nd and thiclmess of pavement, as well as the width of paved roadway. Water mains are to be installed before streets are paved, if said mains are laid on said streets. SECTION ~~: The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be published once in the Arcadia Tribune, a daily newspaper publ:lshed and circulated in the City of Arcadia, and thirty (30) days therefrom and thereafter the same shall take effect and be in force. I hereby certify that the foregoing Ordinance was adopted at a regular meetin8 of the City Council of the City of Arcadia held on the 4th day of May , 1937, by the affirmative vote of at least three councilmen, to-wit: AYES: Councilmen, Corby, Deniels, Griffitts, Hoffman and McLean NOES: None ABSENT: None ~y~~ Signed and approved this 4th day of May , 1937. ~c..--\.< w.
