ORDINANCE NO. 359
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 257 OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA; ESTABLISHING
SET BACK LINES ON A PORTION OF LA CADENA AVENUE IN SAID CITY OF
ARCADIA AND PARTICULARLY LOT lO, TRACT 3430 AS PER MAP RECORDED IN
BOOK 42, PAGE 32 OF MAPS, RECORDS OF LOS ANGELES COUNTY, AND PRO-
VIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF.
TEE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES ORDAIN AS'
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: That after a public hearing pursuant to
Resolution of Intention No. 874, the City Council of the City of
Arcadia hereby determines that the public peace, health, safety,
comfort and convenience, interest and welfare require and ~t is
hereby ordered that the minimum distance from the street line for
the erectIon qf buildings or structures, to be designated as the
building line, on a portion of La Cadena Avenue in said City of
Arcadia and particularly Lot lO, Tract No. 3430 as per map recor-
ded in Book 42, Page 32 of Maps, Records of Los Angeles County,
shall be as hereinafter set forth.
SECTION ~l:
That it shall be unlawful for any person,
firm or corporation to erect, construct or locate any building or
other structure upon Lot No. lO, Tract No. 3430 as per map recorded
in Book 42, Page 32 of Maps, Records of Los Angeles County, except
in conformity to the set back lines established as follows:
A set back line a distance of 20 feet for the Northerly
70 feet of the Westerly 72.50 feet of Lot lO, Tract No. 3430 as
per map recorded in Book 42, Page 32 of Maps, Records of Los Angeles
County.
That no building or other structure shall be erected, con-
structed or built within said set back lines.
SECTION 3:
That that portion of Ordinance No. 257 of the
City of Arcadia which establishes the set back lines on the property
described and only that portion which is in conflict herewith, be
and the same is hereby amended to comply with the terms of this
Ordinance.

SECTION 4:
That any person, firm or corporation violating
any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a
misdemeanor and upon a conviction thereof shall be punishable by
fine not exceeding Three Hundred Dollars ($300.00) or by imprisonment
in the City Jail of the City of Arcadia or in the County Jail of the
County of Los Angeles, California, at the discretion of the committing
magistrate for a period not exceeding three (3) months or by both
such fine and imprisonment, and each such person, firm or corporation
shall be deemed guilty of a separate offense for each day during any
portion of which the violation of or failure, neglect or refusal to
comply with any of the provisions of this Ordinance is committed,
continued or permitted.
SECTION 5:
The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Ordinance and cause the same to be published once in the
Arcadia Tribune a weekly newspaper published and circulated in the
City of Arcadia and thirty (30) days from the final passage hereof
the same shall takE) effect and be in force.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Ordinance was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia
held on the 2lst day of September
, 1937, by the affirmative vote
of at least three councilmen, to-wit:
