HomeMy WebLinkAbout0361 / ORDINANCE NO. 36l AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, AMENDING SECTION TWO (2) AND SECTION THREE (3) OF ORDINANCE NUMBER 153 OF SAID CITY OF ARCADIA, APPROVED APRIL l5, 1925. ~t.~~t.~ FOLIDWS: ~ " \\\), OV-'v. , ~~ THE CI'l'Y COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES ORDAIN AS SECTION 1: Section Two of Ordinance Number 153 of said City of Arcadia is hereby amended to read as follows: SECTION 2: The Planning Commission of the City of Ar- cadia, California shall consist of nine (9) members, as follows: (a) Six members, not officials of the City of Arcadia or the County of Los Angeles, shall be appointed by the Mayor of the City Council of said City of Arcadia, with the approval of the City Coun- ,cil. (b) The City, Engineer or his designated deputy shall be a member ex officio. (c) The City Council of the City of Arcadia shall select and , appoint two other officials of the City of Arcadia, one of whom may be a member of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, which of- ficials or their designated deputies shall be members ex officio of said Planning Commission. SECTION 2: Section Three of Ordinance Number 153 of said City of Arcadia is hereby amended to read as follows: SECTION 3: Of the six members of the Planning Commission first appointed, except ex officio members, two shall be appointed for terms of one year: two for terms of two years: one for the term of three years and onE! for the term of four years. The successors of the above mentioned six members of the Planning Commission shall be I appointed for terms of four years. If a vacancy shall occur otherwise than by expiration of term, the vacancy shall be filled by the City Council's appointing a member to serve for the unexpired portion of the term. SECTION 3: This Ordinance is urgently required for the pre- serve.tion of the public peace, health and safety and the facts constituting such urgency are as follows: At the last session of the state Legislature the City Planning Commission Act was amended, making numerous changes in the old act. The Arcadia City Planning Commission ordinance does not meet the requirements of the State Act, as the City of Arcadia established its City Planning Commission in the year 1925 and has an active going City Planning Commission; it is necessary that this Ordinance take effect immediately in order that the acts of the Planning Commission can function and its acts will not be subject to legal attack. SECTION 4: 'l'he City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Ordinance and cause the same to be published once in the Arcadia Tribune, a daily newspaper published and circulated in said City of Arcadia and thereupon and thereafter the same shall take effect and be in force.
