AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA
REGULATING THE DISTRIBUTION OF ADVERTISING SAIdPLES, f~NDBILLS,
DODGERS, CIRCULARS, BOOKLETS AND OTHER NOTICE OF ADVERTISEMENTS
UPON THE STREETS AND PROPERTY,OF Tfill RESIDENTS 'OF THE CITY OF
ARCADIA.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1:
That it shall be unlawful for any person,
firm or corporation to distribute or cause to be distributed to
or among pedestrians along or upon any public street, alley, park
.:<FiALEIl or any other public place in the City of Arcadia, any advertising

3'1 sample, handbill, dodger, circular, booklet or other notice of
commercial advertising.
SECTION 2:
That it shall be unlawful for any person,
firm or corporation to distribute or cause to be distributed in
the City of Arcadia, any handbill or any printed or written com-
mercial advertisi~s matter by placing or causing the same to be
placed in any automobile or in any yard or on any porch or in any

the person so distributing the same.
SECTION ;S:
That it shall be unlawful for any person,
firm or corporation to distribute or cause to be distributed or
to throw upon or cause to be thrown upon any private yard, lawn,

circular, booklet or any printed or written commercial advertising
matter.
SECTION 4:
That it shall be unlawful for any person,

firm or corporation to attach or cause to be attached any handbill,
dodger, circular, booklet or any printed'or written commercial ad-
vertising matter to any doorknob or latch on any outside door of any

dwelling house, apartment house, hotel, lodging house, store room or
any other building in the City of Arcadia, not in the possession of or
uhder the control of the person so attaching the same or causing the

same to be attached.
SECTION 5:
That it shall be unlawful for any person,
firm or corporation to distribute, cause or permit to be distributed,
give away, give to any person, hand to any person, offer to give,
hand to or sell to any person to or among pedestrians, occupants of
automobiles or to place in any automobile or upon any automobile or
any part thereof or any other vehicle or any part thereof, whether
parked, standing, moving or otherwise, along or upon any public
street, parkway, alley, court, public park, playground or other-public
place or upon any private driveway, private yard, private lawn,
private road, private walk or private sidewalk or upon any vacant lot

311 dodger, handbill, circular, booklet or any other printed or written
advertising, pertaining to any horse race, choice of horse, horses,
recommending any horse or horses; or giving or conveying any infor-
mation about any horse, horse race or contest of endurance or speed
between horses or beasts; or giving, conveying or advertising any
place, person, firm or corporation or telephone number where !lny
matter, thing or act prohibited by this Ordinance may be obtained,
had or acquired.
SECTION 6: The provisions of this Ordinance shall not be

be posted upon or affixed to any part of any dwelling or building or
to cards advertising such dwelling house or building for sale or that
the same or some portion thereof is for rent.
SECTION 7:
The provisions of this Ordinance shall not be

SECTION 8: That Ordinance No. 225 and Ordinance No. 330

SECTION 9:
That any person, firm or corporation vio-

lating any of the provisions of this 'Ordinance shall be deemed
guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be
punishable by a fine not exceeding, Three Hundred Dollars ($300.00)
or by imprisonment in the City Jail of the said City of Arcadia or
in the County J~il of the County of Los Angeles, State of California,
at the discretion of the committing magistrate for a term not exceed-
ing three (3) months, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
,SECTION 10:
The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Ordinance and cause the same to be published once in the

.3"'" City of Arcadia and thirty (30) days from the final passage hereof
the same shall take effect and be in force.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Ordinance was adopted
regularly adjourned
