ORDINANCE NO. 370
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA
ESTABLISHING SET BACK LI1~S ON A PORTION OF SANTA ANITA AVENUE IN
SAID CITY OF ARCADIA AND PARTICULARLY ~S TO LOTS 1 to 8 INCLUSIVE
IK TRACT NO. 7473 IN SAID CITY OF ARCADIA AS PER MAP BOOK 93, PAGE
5l OF 1~PS AND RECORDS OF LOS ANGELES COUNTY AND PROVIDING A
PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION l: That after a public hearing pursuant to
Resolution of Intention No. 898, the City Council of the City of
Arcadia hereby det,ermines that the public peace, health, safety,
comfort, convenience, interest and welfare require and it is hereby
ordered that the ~tnimum distance from the street line for the
erection or const~lction of buildings or structures to be desig-
na ted as the build:Lng line on a portion of Santa Anita Avenue in the
Ci ty of Arcadia Shllll be as hereinafter set forth.
SECTION 2:
That it shall be unlawful for any person, firm
or corporation to erect, construct or locate any building or other
structure upon any lot or parcel of land fronting on those public
streets or avenues in said City of Arcadia and hereinafter named,
except in conformity to those set back lines described as follows:
A set baek line a distance of twenty' (20) feet Westerly
from and parallel to the \"iesterly line of Santa Anita Avenue fronting
on Lots 1 to 8 inclusive in Tract No. 7473 as per map book 93, page
5l of ~aps and Reccrds of Los Angeles County.
That no building or structure shall be erected, construc-
ted or built within said set back lines.
SECTION 3:
That that portion of Ordinance No. 257 or
any other ordinance only which is in conflict herewith, be and the
same is hereby amended according to this Ordinance.
SECTION 4: That any person, firm or corporation violating
any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a

misdemeanor and upon a conviction therefor shall be punishable by a
fine not exceeding lbree Hundred Dollars ($300) or by imprisonment
in the City Jail of said City of Arcadia or in the County Jail of
the County of Los Angeles, at the discretion of the committing magis-
trate, for a period not exceeding three (3) months, or by both such
fine and imprisonment, and every such person, firm or corporation
shall be deemed guilty of a separate offense for each day during any
portion of which the violation or failure, neglect or refusal to
comply with the provisions of this Ordinance, is committed, continued,
permitted or allowl3d.
SECTION 5:
The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be published once in the
Arcadia Tribune, a daily newspaper published and circulated in said
City of Arcadia, and thirty days from and after the final passage
hereof the same shall take effect and be in force.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Ordinance was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, held
on the 7th
day of December, 1937, by the affirmative of at least
three Councilmen, to-wit:
