THE CITY COUilCIL OF THE CITY OF hRCADlh !)O::S CRDiuN AS FOLLO,IS: SBCTIO~ That Ordinance No. 320 of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, entitled "An Ordinance of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, aGainst keeping or permittin~ to be kept, places for . playinG certain games and prohibiting the playing or betting at such games; and repealing Ordinance No. 48 of said City of k'cadia," adopted September 3, 1935, be and the same is hereby amended by adding thereto a new Section to be known and numbered Section 2-A and to read as follows: SECTION 2-A. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, or corporation, as o\'lner, mana[ler, principal, agent, employee or other\'/ise, to operate, ~:inte.in, conduct or carryon any public card room or public ~ame room or any other public place, as a business, in the City of Arcadia, where any poker game, card game, or any game of chance is played, conducted, carried on or permitted. SEC'l'ION~ That any person, firm, or corporation violatine any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall ~e dee~ed ~uilty of a mis- demeanor and upon conviction thereof, shall be puni~hed by fine not exceeding TlffiE~ HUNDRED (v300) DOLJ~RS or by utprisonment in the City Jail of said City of Arcadia or in the County Jail of the county of Los imgeles, Stat,3 of California, at the descretion of the Committing ;'ja~istrate, for a term not exceedin ~ three (;;>) months, or oy both such fine and imp~isonment. SECTION 3. All Ordinances and parts of 0rdin~nces in confli~t with any of' the provisions of' this Ordinance are hereby repealed. S~CTIOR 4. Ttis Ordinance is hereby declared to be an ----- ur:;ency meaSUl'e nelce~sary :Lor the immediate presernl.tion of the public peace, health and safety. ~he facts constitutin; the urzency are, that -1- eN.! 3F$ numerous p3rsons have threatened to open, operate and maintain'_n the City of Arcadia, public card rooms and 3ame rooms of the kind described in Section 1, of this Ordinance. That the operating and maintaining of such rublic curd rOOlllS and c;ame rooms will have a tendency to weaken and corrupt the morals of, and to encoura[ie idleness instead of: habits of! industI'Y in those who operate and mc.intain them, and of tl;ose who frequent or patronize them, and therefore, the immediate passage of this OrdinancE is necessary. SECTI~~ 5.
