If( 43 1 AN OEDINAlTCE OF THE BOilRD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF ilR- CADIA RCGUI..ATIllG THE USE OF PUBLIC STEEI;TS AlID ilLLLYS ill:n TRAFFIC 2 ON THE SACTI, III SAID CITY OF AF.CADIA. 3 ~'HE BOAED OF TRUSTill:S OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DO ORDAI1I AS FOLLO\1S: 4 5 SECTION 1: It shall be unlauful for any person, firm or corporatioL to ride, drive or propel. or to cause or permit to be 6 ridden, driven or propelled. any vehicle upon or along or to permit 7 any vehicle to remain upon any public street, alley or other public 8 place during the period of one hour after sunset and one hour befor 9 sunrise, unless there is attached to the front of such vehicle a 10 lamp shoTIing a white light visible in the nirection tOTIards which 11 such vehicle is proceeding. end also a lamp attached to the rear ox 12 such vehicle showing a red light visible in the reverse direction; 13 provided horrever. that if the load carried on such vehicle extends a distance of five 'feet or more beyond the rear of such vehicle. there Shall also be attached to the rear portion of such extended load, a light visible in the revurse direction; provided however, that the pr~visions of this section shall not apply to cny vehicle 18 upon ~hich lights are required by any law of the State of Califor- 19 nia to be exhibited. 20 SJ~CTION 2: , It shall be unlawful for any person, firm 21 22 23 or corporation to ride, drive or propel or to cause or nermit to be ridden, driven or propelled, any vehicle &t a greater rate of speed than is reasonable and proper. having regard for the traffic and use of the highuay; and no person. firm or corporation shall 24 25 ride, drive or propel. or cause or permit to oe ridCl.eu, driven or 26 27 28 29 propelled, any vehicle on a public street at such c rate of speed as to endanger the life or limb of any person or the safety of an propertYI provided that it shall be unlawful to ride. drive or propel or cause or permit to be ridden, driven or propelled, any vehicle at a rate of speed in excess of tcrenty (20) miles an hour. SECTION 6: The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be posted in at leas three publ~c places in said City of Arcadia and thirty days from and after the final passage of this Ordinance the same shall take effect and be in force. The foregoing Ordinance uas adopted at a regular meet- ing of the Board of Trustees of the City of Arcadia held on the 3rd. day of September, 1914, by the affirmative vote of at least three Trustees. to-wit: .
